August 18. “ The Arcadians." The Clarke Meynell Company staged “The Arcadians'’ at the Opera House last week to an overflowing audience. fine, but the following small attendance was probably accounted for as a largo number of horses are being reserved for the Hunt Club’s races on the 24th inst. The run was over a nice line of country crossing the properties of Dr Pairman, Messrs G. Handley, J. Bason, J. Larmer, and D. Cullinane and Mr W. Mcßeth's homestead, where all enjoyed a recherche afternoon tea. She is on her way to Dunedin to be present at the wedding of her son, Air Howard Dodgshun. Airs France, of Stratford, has been staying in AVanganui with her mother, Airs liawken. Aliss D. Christie, of Wanganui, has returned from her visit to Wellington, where she was a guest of Airs Eric Ridd if ord. Airs Finch, of (hristchurch. is the guest of her daughter, Airs Hesse, St. John’s Hill, AVanganui. Aliss Scott, of Gisborne, is staying in Wanganui with her sister. Mrs Innes. Airs Carr, of Dunedin, who has been staying in XA’anganui with her sister, Airs John Stevenson, has returned to her home.
