April 28. An Evening Party. An evening party for the visiting golfers was given on Friday by Mrs. Wigram, Park-terrace. The guests included the Wellington teams —Mrs. Watkins, Mrs. Lees, Misses Pearce, Burns. Tolhurst, Brandon, and Stafford. Mrs. A. Campbell. Mrs. Vernon. Mrs. and Mias Boyle. Misses Humphreys (2), Moore (2), Anderson (2), Campbell (2), Cowlishaw, Reeves, Ogle. Symes. Thomas. Denniston, Harley, Rutherford and Murray-Aynsley. The amusements provided were bridge, billiards, and a guessing competition, which was won by Miss Boyle. Briffco.

A small bridge party was given on Tuesday evening by Mra O. G. Stead at “Strowan Park” in honour of Mrs. and Miss Duff who are staying with Suer. Amongst the players were: Mrs. Wilfred Stead, Mra. Gower Burna, Mrs.

A musical afternoon was given by Mrs Gower Burns on Thursday at her residence in Kilniore-street. Musical items were contributed by Mrs Wilding, Mrs Loughnan, Mrs W. Wilson, and Miss Loughnan. Mrs Burns wore a handsome gown of mole satin veiled in chiffon; Misses Bums, biscuit canvas frocks, hemmed with satin; Mrs Boyle, pale fawn cloth costume, large black hat with apricot roses; Mrs Stead, black silk coat and skirt, black and white hat, and white ostrich feather stole; Mrs W. Stead, blue serge coat and skirt, grey hat; Mrs G. Rhodes, black lace over white satin, black tulle hat with osprey; Miss Boyle, mole lustre eoat and skirt braided with same shade, black hat with white velvet flowers; Mrs J. Hall, black cloth eoat and skirt, black hat with royal blue satin crown; Mrs Duff (Wellington). dark blue coat and skirt, purple hat; Miss Duff, blue serge coat and skirt, black hat with wings; Mrs R. Macdonald, grey cloth gown, embroidered, black hat with feathers; Miss Macdonald, pale green doth costume, green hat with feathers; Mrs Pyne, mole crepe de soie, with mauve and silver embroidery, blaek hat with white ostrich feathers; Miss Pyne, blue serge, braided with blaek, blaek silk hat; Mrs Symes, dark blue ottoman silk eoat and skirt, braided, black velvet hat with white feathers; Mrs Deans, black silk eoat and skirt, bleck bearer hat; Mrs Denniston, biscuit coloured voile, tulle toque to match; Miss Denniston, blue coat and skirt, braided with black, black tuscan hat. Turnbull, who have been spending a few days in Christchurch on their way from Mt. Cook, have returned to Wellington. Miss Burnes (Wellington) is the guest of Mrs Allen, Lower Riccarton. Mrs Lees (Trentham) is staying with Mrs Denniston, Rolleston-avenue. Miss Pearce (Wellington) has been staying with Miss Humphreys (Fendalton). Mrs Ernest Currie (Napier) is spending a few weeks in Christchurch. Miss M. Hall has returned to Christchurch from a visit to England.
