April 21. Golf. The golfers returned from Okoroire on Tuesday night, after having a delightful holiday, the weather being good all the time, except for a few showers on Saturday morning. Miss K. Willis was the only victorious one of the Cambridge players, she having won the driving competition. A number of the visiting golfers from Auckland and other places have promised to be present at the South Auckland Golfing Tournament. to be held in Cambridge in August next. Flower Show. The Cambridge Chrysanthemum Show was opened to-day by the Mayor. The exhibits were exceedingly good. Mr. Joseph Chambers took both prizes for the champion bloom in the show, one being a Japanese and one an incurved chrysanthemum.. Mrs J. R. S. Richardson got first prize for her bowl of 25 Japanese and first for a bowl of 12 Japanese chrysanthemums. Miss Sharkey got first for a lovely owl of 25 incurved green chrysanthemums. The table H. Wells second. Mr. VV. F Buckland decorations were all exceedingly pretty. Miss R. Nixon coming first, Miss Vealc second, and Miss Chitty third. Miss Alice Hally gained first for her table, which was in another section for girls under 18. Mrs. H. Nixon had an exquisite show’er bouquet, in shades of yellow', for which she gained first prize. Miss 11. Wells was awarded first prize for the best collection of cut flowers, and Mr. Simpson second; and Mr. Simpson first for cactus dahlias, and Miss II Wells second, Mr W. F. Buckland first prize for paeony dahlias, and he also had a lovely collection of flowering begonias for exhibition only The afternoon tea was presided over by Mrs. McCullogh and Mrs. M. McDermott, as-

sisted by a bevy of young ladies; all were wearing white dresses. Amongst those present I notieed: Mrs. (Dr.) Edmonds. navy blue coat and skirt and hat to match; Mrs. C. Hunter, navy blue coat and skirt and green felt hat; Mrs W. Hunter, white silk trimmed with white silk applique and white hat lined with pale pink, and trimmed with white tulle and white plumes; Mrs H. Nixon, white embroidered muslin and Coronation blue hat; Mrs. Brooks, grey costume and black bonnet; Mrs. Willis, black coat and skirt and blank bonnet with white roses; Mrs. Cameron, white muslin, and white hat trimmed with black and white daisies; Mrs. (Dr.) Roberts, white embroidered Anglaise eoat and skirt and black hat with plumes; Miss Attfield, black and white striped cambric and black feather boa, and black picture hat; Miss Gwynneth, grey and mauve cotton voile and mauve toque; Mrs. Chitty, blue-grey muslin and black hat; Mrs. Bradney (Fiji), pale grey muslin, white ostrich feather boa. and vieux rose hat trimmed with silk; Miss Hill (Fiji), nattier blue voile trimmed with black and black toque; Mrs. Rielly (Fiji), green costume and pink hat; Miss Bright (Ocean Island), white muslin, large mauve hat, with mole-coloured veil; Miss Chitty, green costume, and hat to match; Mrs. Payze (Matamata), grey coat and skirt and grey toque; Miss Banks, brown tweed coat and skirt and brown hat, trimmed with roses; Mrs. Hopkirk, green coat and skirt and black hat; Mrs. Richardson, black coat and skirt and mauve toque; Miss Richardson, green coat and skirt and green hat; Mrs. Veale, black costume and black hat; Mrs. M. Butler, grey coat and skirt and amethyst hat; Mrs. Bunyard, blue coat and skirt and hat to match; Mrs. Allen Bell, green coat and skirt and black hat; Mrs. McDermott, blue costume and hat to match.
