STRATFORD.

Stratford is wearing its most ChristImas like aspect. The town is full of busy, merry shoppers, and one hears on all sides the greetings of the season. The children are undoubtedly’ having the best of fun, as any amount of children’s parties are being given. Children's Parties. Mrs. Raikes, Pembroke-road, gave a very’ nice juvenile party on Wednesday evening. The guessing competition was won by Miss Nancy Douslin. Mrs. Menzies gave a children’s tea party on Saturday afternoon, and inspite of dreadful weather the small people had a very good time. Mrs. James, Mountain-road, gave a delightful children’s garden party' on Thursday' afternoon. Any amount of games were indulged in, the feature of the afternoon being, of course, tea out of doors. The guests were none too pleased when “good-bye” time inevitably' came round. Mrs. Crawshaw was at home on Wednesday afternoon. The concert given by Miss Orbell’s little pupils for their “breaking up,” was very creditable, the little mites acquitting themselves admirably. Personal. Tire Rev. A. Colville is paying a short visit to Mr. A. W. Budge, Mountainroad. Miss N. Wake has returned from Wanganui. Mrs. Duke Hunter has returned after a short visit to Wanganui. (Mr. K. Monroe has returned for the Xmas holidays. Mrs. T. C. Fookes has left for New Plymouth, where she intends spending the Xmas holidays. Mr. and Miss Fussell have left to spend the Xmas with their parents in Tirnaru. Mrs. T. W. Wake and, family were passengers by last night’s boat for Auckland.
