NAPIER.
November 11. Display of Physical Culture. A most successful display of physical culture was given by Miss Rutherfurd's pupils on Monday afternoon. The various exercises and gymnastics were watched by a large number of parents and friends. The presentation of medals was made by Sirs. Stopford, who was during the afternoon handed a bouquet by one of the younger pupils. Canon Mayne, in a brief speech, thanked the donors of prizes, the large audience for their attendance, and congratulated the pupils on their work. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Stopford, Mrs. Bandsman, Mrs W. Brabant, Mrs. Edgar, Mrs. Smart, Mrs. and Miss McCarthy, Mrs. McHardy, Miss Morecroft, Mrs. Wenlcy, Mrs. and Miss Sutton, Mrs. Averil, Mrs. Cato, Mrs. Hansard, Miss Hansard, Miss Dean, Mrs. Mayne, Mrs. Saxby, Mrs. Bryant, Mre. Orokeitral CaactrL The Hastings OnAectnl Society g»W a very enjoyable concert is the Theotro Royal oa Wednesday evening, the proceeds of which gio to assist the Hawke’g Bay Boys’ Home. The different orcheo' tral numbers were weU rendered, and much enjoyed by a large audience. Th« society was assisted by Miss large and Mr Caeriyn Bennet.* Miss Large aS always a great favourite with the Napieg public, and her rendering of "The Message and the Song” and “Gloriana” were greatly appreciated. In answer to .an emphatic encore, Miss Large sang "Sing, Break Into Song.” Mr. Caerlyn Bennet made his first appearance before a Napien audience, and was most successful with his different items. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. Elder (Waikoni) arff spending a few days in Napier. Mrs. Absolum and her little eon ar< staying at the Masonic Hotel. Mrs. Hartree (Ngaroto) is in Napier. Mrs. Eranch Hutchingson is visiting Napier. Mr. and Mrs. Hutchingson leav« for Rotorua in a few days. Mrs. Dick Tod. has returned from her visit to the North. Miss T. Margoliouth has gone oit a visit to Sydney.
