... November 4. The Races. The Awatere Racing Club held then annual meeting at Dashwood on Tuesday, Ist. The morning was very fine and clear, although there was rather too much wind for perfect comfort. The course was in very good order, and the attendance was large. Some very pretty dresses were worn by a number of the ladies present. A few of 'those I noticed were: Airs. E. Weld, black tailor-made costume, white hat trimmed with black; Airs. Stevenson, grey costume, champagne straw, large Black velvet bow; Airs. G. Waddy, blue costume, -brown hat with scarf; Aliss Morriss, grey costume, hat to match; Aliss Barker, brown costume, brown hat; Airs. L. Griffiths, stylish brown costume, purple hat, gold lace band; Airs. Staee, haniisome green costume, large black hat; Airs. H. Sharp, heliotrope striped voile, hat to match; Miss Foster, brown Russian costume, brown hat; Airs. Richmond, pale grey costume, white hat; Airs. Black, slategrey costume, large hat; Aire. Woods, smart brown costume, brown hat; Airs, Corry, stylish navy blue tailor-made costume, large black hat; Airs. H. Howard, mole-coloured costume, brown hat; Airs. Horne, black voile relieved with white, large black hat; Airs. G. Ward, brown tailor-made costume, champagne hat with scarf. Alessrs. Weld, Woods, Stsvenson, Stace, Waddy, Griffiths, Sharp, Richmond, Blick, Corry, etc.

Personal. Air. and Airs. C. Murray (Wharanui) have gone to Palmerston for the Show. Airs. Fisher (Wellington) is spending some weeks at Kainui. Mr. 11. Vavasour lias gone to Palmerston for the show: Aliss Alorriss, who has been on a short visit to Airs. E. Weld (Flaxbourne) has

returned to Blenheim.
