STRATFORD.

September 30. During the Week. Mrs. Campbell Raikes gave a pleasant little bridge party on 'Tuesday evening. Amongst those invited were: Mrs. Hugh Good, Mrs. Budge, Mrs. E. C. Robinson, Mrs. Richards, Miss Glynes, Mrs. Stubbs, etc. The Rink is still crowded. Some are gaining a little proficiency; others still remain in the wobbly stage. On Thursday the Wanganui races were held, and Stratford was once more the “deserted village.” Many motored down, and others went by train. The Flower Show on Thursday evening was crowded. The Stratford Orchestral Society rendered many pleasing items during the evening. Mr. Gibson, of Riverlea, secured the chief trophy of the Show, the silver cup presented by Dr.

Dillon-Carbery, for the best collection of twelve popular varieties.: Mr. E. A. Osmonds’.collection. for “exhibition only.” was indeed very much admired. Dr. Carbery’s twenty-five variety collection Mas also a very fine one. DENISE.
