August 25. At the Theatre. The Hugh Ward Company of comedians paid a very welcome visit to Nelson last week, and were greeted with troweled houses each evening. “The Bachelor’s Honeymoon,” “The Girl from Rector's,” and “The Man from Mexico” .were the plays given. Among so many, it its difliciilt to individualise, hut on different occasions 1 noticed in the audience: Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Coote, Afrs. Renwick. Mrs. Robertson. Mrs. Glasgow, Miss R. Glasgow, Mi-«s Richmond, Mrs. Evans, Captain and Mrs. Horn, Dr. and Afrs. Barr. Mrs? Ernest Izard, Mrs. and Aliss Houlker, Dr. and Mrs. Gibbs. Mr. and Airs. D. Edwards, Mr. and Airs. Frank Hamilton. Airs, and Al'ns Fell, Air. and Aliss Booth. Mr. and Airs. A. P. BuYnes, Mrs. de Castro, the Misses Eedger, Air. and Airs. C. J. Harley. Air. and Afrs. Douglas (Stokef, Airs. Mark Grace, Air. and Airs. Frank Edwards 7Stoke), Air. and Alns. G. lloby, Aliss Lorimer, Airs. Fowler, Aliss Stuart Forbes. Airs. Harrison, Airs. Dodson, Dr. Andrew. Afternoon Tea. Airs. c. Y. Fell gave a small afternoon tea, at which Miss Grace Palotta was present. Some of the guests were: Miss Mabel Atkinson, Airs. Lindo Levien (Napier). Aire. E. S. Robison. Airs. Sidney Gibbs. Airs. N. (’. Cock. Aliss Elsie Booth, Miss V era Leggatt. Another enjoyable afternoon tea was the one given by At ns. Robison at the Dank of New South Wales. Some of those invited were: - Airs. Dudley Edvard-. Afrs. G. Hobv. Mrs. H. Cork. Aliss Sylvia Fell. Mi-s Booth, Mi— Blackett, and Alis- Leggatt. Croquet Club. The Nelson ‘Croquet Club will give their annual children's fancy dre— ball in the School' of Alu-ic next week. College Dance. A dance will be given in the Assembly Hall. Nelson College, on the occasion of the vi-it of tin* King's College. Auckland, find High School, Christchurch, football teams. Personal. A team of golfers from Westport vi-it-ed NeL-on !a-t week. They were: — Ales-rs. Brereton. Moss. Gothard. Lynch (2), Fair, and Mullan. Unfortunately, the ladies’ team wa« unable to come. Airs .lark Sharp ami Mi— Ethel ledger have gone to Christchurch to play in the I.allies' Golf Tournament. Mrs. W. Adams ( Langlev-dale) has been -p< n ling a short holiday in Nelson. Mis- Sevimnir (Picton)* is staying with friends in Nelson. Alins A. Turnbull (New Plymouth) is the guest of her aunt, Mr-. Tomlin- »n. Airs. Lindo Levien has returned to Napier.
