STRATFORD.
June 24. A Quiet Week. There are no social functions to record this week, as at least one member of each family is laid up with influenza, more or less seriously. Airs Dillon-Carberry gave a small tea party on Wednesday afternoon. Amongst those present were: Airs Monroe, Airs Wake, Mrs Rennell, Airs Stubbs, Airs Hogg (Midhirst), Airs Alenzies, Airs Uniacke. Aliss Fussell, and Airs Stubbs was "At Home” on Thursday afternoon. Miss Bedford’s "Long Evening” proved most enjoyable. 'l'he children’s theatricals at Aliss Drbell’s school were a great success, the little tots going through thei rrespeetive parts most charmingly. Mr Heatly proving himself to be a capable stage manager.
Personal. Mr« Wake has returned from Wellington. The Hon. T. Mackenzie was here opening the new railway. Mr T. W. Rapley is staying here for a few days. Mr Campbell Raikes has returned from a short visit to Whangarei. Mr F. Steuart paid a short visit to Stratford during the week to bidi farewell to old friends prior to his departure for Australia with Mrs Steuart and Miss L. Steuart. Miss Rimmer (Auckland) is at present visiting here. Mr E. Jackson (Bank of New Zealand) has returned from his holiday to Australia. Mi - J. B. Hine, M.P., and family left for Wellington this morning. Dr. and Mrs Harrison (Eltham) are staying in Wellington on a short visit on their way to the South Island. Mr R. Hogg, Midhirst, has gone to Wellington on a visit to his brother, Dr.
Hogg.
