It is authoritatively stated that the Taranaki Petroleum Company lias received oilers from three separate capitalistic concerns abroad to purchase their plant, rights, and property at Moturoa. and that negotiat ions are in progress. The directors in each communication stipulate that any agreement made with them is subject to ratification by the shareholders. Shares are rapidly hardening. Fires in Taranaki. u A fire broke out about 11.30 on Saturday night in Deare's boot shop, in a block recently purchased by llallenstein Bros., rigid in the centre of the town. \ high wind was blowing, and the tire obtained a good hold, but was suppressed in twenty minutes. Ila Hollstein's insurants are: £2lOO on the buildings and £ 1500 on the stock in various oilices. Deare’s stock is insured for £1300; Reynolds ami Co.. bicycle dealers. £1000; New Plymouth < lub. furniture upstairs. £325. Deare’s estimate of his loss is between £lOOO amt £ 1300, and the ( lub's £5O. Reynolds’ ami ll.iliens! ein's stocks are damagtd by water, but no estimate has yet been formed. There w ill probably l>e heavy damages to the building, which will be covered by £2OO or £3OO. On Friday a farmer named Henderson, residing on 1 h«- Albert road, lost a cowshed, trashed ami 25 tons of hay by lire. These were insured for .£lOO in the State ollie, c.
