April 8. College Sports. Faultless was the weather on last Friday for the Craven College annual sports, and the large number of relatives and friends of the pupils present spent a delightful afternoon watching the keen but perfect sporting spirit shown by the girls in their efforts to win the coveted cups, etc. The Challenge Cup for the school was won by L. Lethbridge, who was also the winner of the “Old Girls’ Cup.” The “Helen Crawford Cup,” for second highest number of points, went to R. Fairburn. The old girls’ race was won by Miss Nancy Hartgill, of Danneyirke. At the conclusion of the different events Mr. J. D. R. Hewitt presented the beautiful collection of prizes to the suc-

cessful competitors. Messrs. FosterPratt, L. A. Abraham, B.‘Foster-Pratt and J. Monro assisted the Misses Fraserin the starting and judging of the races. Afternoon tea and the daintiest of cakes were dispensed by a bevy of girls. The dressing was particularly good, if varied, mid-summer and mid-winter blending beautifully together. Guy has returned from Rotorua. The deepest sympathy is felt for Mr. and Airs. If. R. Waldegrave in the great' sorrow that has overtaken them. Their eldest daughter, Mrs. Martin Aloir, of Christchurch, died suddenly in Welling ton on Tuesday morning. Mrs. Aloir, as Aliss Frances Waldegrave, lived all her life here, until her marriage thirteen months ago,? and she was on her way up from Christchurch on her first visit home when she died.
