A Ball. March L On Friday 25th February, a plain and fancy dress ball was held in the Carluke Hall m aid of the Tennis Club. Owino to the very wet weather a large number of people were prevented from being present. Among those in fancy dress I noticed Mrs. J. Campbell, Australian Cricketer; Mr. W. Farnell, Chinaman; Mr. W. Harris, Cricketer; Mr. J. Simpson, Cowboy; Mr. H. Simpson, Jockey; Mr. G. Brown, Coon; Mr. W. Wady, Lady; Mr. Fiveash, Clown; Mr. E. Personal. Mrs. J. Picard (Foxton) has been spending a few weeks’ holiday with her mother, Mrs. R. Andrews, of Carluke. Mrs. D. Picard (North Is’and) is spending a few weeks with her mother, Mrs. H. Pope, of Carluke. Miss Ella Beal returned home yesterday after spending a pleasant holiday with her aunt, Mrs. S. Tapp, of Springlands, Blenheim.

Mr. Apsey (America) is now on a visit to his sister, Mrs. Wiekens, of Carluke. Mrs. Brown (Havelock) is at present spending a short holiday with her sister, Mrs. H. Smith, of Carluke. AZENA.
