HAWERA, March 4. At the Theatre. “The Scarlet Troubadours” played hert two nights this week to crowded houses and an appreciative audience. Amongst some present, 1 noticed: Mrs. Campbell, black satin, white lace berthe; Mrs. A flood, black; Mrs. Barton, grey silk; Mrs. Nicholas, black silk; Mrs. Page, black chiffon taffeta; Mrs. Parkinson, black eilk; Mrs. C. Hawken, black satin; Miss Moore, pale blue satin, trimmed with cream lace; Miss Glenn, yellow silk, touches of brown velvet; Mr. and Mrs. O’Callaghan, Mr. and Mrs. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. H. Lysaght, Mr. and Mrs. 0. Hawken, Mr. and Mrs. Bell, Mr. and Mrs. T. Winks, Mesdaines Nolan, Holder, Misses Good, Whitcombe, Williamson (2), Russell, Caplen (2), Turton, Reilly, Winks l(2), Alexander, Nolan (2), Pratt, Clapcott, Brett, Douglas, Hogan (Auckland), Koch, etc. Evening Party. A most enjoyable evening was spent at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Williamson’ last Monday. The first part of the evening was devoted to a “comic picture competition,” the prize for the most comical being won by Mr. Chalmers. Then followed bridge. Mrs. Williamson received her guests in a brown skirt, white silk blouse, trimmed with Oriental embroidery; Miss Williamson, blue and white striped muslin, trimed with Valenciennes face; Miss S. Williamson, white inserted muslin. Others present were: Mesdames Webster, Coutts, Page, Parkinson, Nolan, ‘Bell, Miss Glenn, Nolan (2), Russell, Reilly (2), Hull (Auckland), Brett, Douglas, Caplen, Messrs. Williamson, Webster, Beil. Reilly, Parkinson (2), Wilkie, D. jCaplen, Chalmers.
Garden Party. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lysaght entertained their friends at a garden-party at [their home, near Normanby. Tennis and were /the 1 order, day, 'Afternoon tea was served on the lawn. 'Amongst some 1 noticed were: Dr. and Mrs. McDiarmid. Mr. and 'Mrs. Nalder. Mr. and Mrs. Williams, Mr.,and Mrs. .J,, iW. Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Hislop. Mr. and Mrs. Pairington, Mrs. and’Miss McLean, Mrs. and Miss Caplen, Mrs Carthew (New Plymouth). Mrs. and Misses Moore (3), Mrs. C. Goodson, Mrs. Gillies, Misses Lysaght, flood (2), Evans (New Plymouth ). etc.
Personal. Mrs. Nicholas has returned from a visit Bpent in Nelson. Mrs. Carthew (New Plymouth) is the guest of Mrs. Caplen. Miss Evans and Miss Munro (New Plymouth) arc visiting Mrs. Good. Mass I l '. Evans is the guest of Mrs. R. 11. Nolan. Miss Hull (Auckland) and Miss M. 'Abraliam (Palmerston North) arc staying with Mrs. Bell. Mrs. McDiarmid has returned from Wellington. Mrs. Nalder has returned to Hawera, after a month spent at Plimmerton, Wel-
lington.
