December 29. Entertainments The Town Hall was well filled last night, when Mr. Leo. de Chateau’s Comedy Company produced that laughable comedy “Dr. Bill.” Some of those present in the audience were:—Mesdames Townshend, Walker, McCallum, Northeroft, Scott-Smith, Broughton, Lambie, Marsh, Wilson, Hulme, Bacon, Griffiths, Misses Scott-Smith,' Horton (2), Neville (2), Marsh, Mills (Wellington), Clouston, Burden, Waddy, Griffiths, Messrs. Anderson, Bacon, Griffiths, Bell, Clouston, Townshend, Tiike, and Moore. Tennis. On Boxing Day quite a number assembled on the Marlborough lawn tennis ground to play tennis. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies, which was much appreciated by all. Some of those present were:—Mesdames Walker, B. Clouston, Hulme, Reid, Marsh, Wilson, Greenfield, Broughton, Griffiths, Misses Scott-Smith, Neville (3), Mills (Wellington), Anderson, Smith, O’Meara, Marsh, Fulton, Hall, Chapman, Waddy, Griffiths, Messrs. Moore, Griffiths, Wiffen (2), Davies, Broadford (Auckland), and Anderson. Bowling. Bowling was a popular game during the holidays, and the local green was well attended. A good team of four from Wellington were visitors to the Blenheim green, and were given three games, each game being won by the local representatives. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. A. Rogers, of “Eltham Lodge,” together with their family, are spending the Christmas holidays at Ocean Bay. Miss Olive Mills (Wellington) is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Neville, “Thurston.” Mr. W. Churchward is visiting the North Island. Mr. and Mrs. Stace, accompanied by Miss B. Stace, of Robin Hood Bay, were in town during the week. Mr. and Mrs. D. Strachan have returned from their short visit to Nelson. Miss Ivy Ewart is visiting friends in Palmerston North. Miss E. Horne (Wellington) is visiting her sisters in Alfred-street. Mr. Broadford (Auckland) is staying at the Criterion Hotel.
