December 29. unriatmaa in Nelson. The Christmas holidays have brought the usual large influx of visitors and sightseers to Nelson. On Christmas Day, in addition to the usual services, carol Services were held in.the evening at the Cathedral and also at St. John’s Church. At the Cathedral the greater part of the “Messiah” was performed, the soloists being Miss H. Kempthome, Miss Rowe, Miss H. Bamford, Mr. Ward and Mr. T. Houlker, and the Rev. J. P. Kempthome. At the Christmas musical recital at St. John's Church, the great attraction was the solo playing of Miso Louise Croucher, of Melbourne (who is paying a visit to

her parents at Richmond). The other soloists were: Miss Bartlett, of Blenheim, and Messrs. A. P. Lucas,, A. G. Thompson and Norman Williams. The Garrison Baud village fair, which was opeped on Boxing Day by Lieuten-ant-Colonel Joyee, is proving a great success; the Botaniead Reserves being crowded each evening with visitors. Personal. Miss Louise Croucher, of Melbourne, is visnting her parents at Richmond. Miss D. Glasgow (Sydney) is staying with Mrs. Glasgow (Brooklands). Miss Lita Jones has returned to Auckland. Mrs. R. C. Tennent (Timaru) is visiting Nelson. Mr. and Airs. Leo Buckeridge (Wellington) are visitng Mrs. Henry Edwards. Airs. Houlker and Air. J. Houlker have gone to Auckland and Rotorua. Air. AV. Devenish (Greymouth), is staying here. The Rev. J. A. Kempthorne (Auckland) is in Nelson. Airs. AV. Haggitt (Wellington) is staying here. Air. and Airs. T. Ward (Wellington), are the guests of Mrs. H. 0. Ledger. Air. and Mrs. G. Hoby have gone to Ala riborough The Aliases Trolove (Marlborough) are in Nelson. Air. and Airs. D’Ath (Otaki) are the guests of Dr. and Mrs. Pearless (Wakefield). Airs. J. H. Coek and her family have gone to the Pelorus Sounds. Air. Andrew Selanders has returned to Alasterton. Aliss N. Sealy has gone to Lake Te Anau. Aliss Dall has returned to Wellington.
