October — Bridge. Last Monday evening Mrs Rollo gave a most enjoyable bridge party. There were six tables, and the prizes were won by Mrs. Fitzherbert (first), Mrs. H. Stocker (second). Mrs. Rollo received her guests in black silk, with cream net yoke and sleeves; Mrs. Heard, black silk relieved with white; Mrs. Percy XX ebster, black taffetas, cream net and lace blouse; Mrs. Alexander, black silk, white sequined net yoke; Mrs. Fitzherbert, black silk relieved with cream lace; Mrs. Stoeker, pale blue silk; Miss Curtis, pale blue taffetas, bib yoke inset with cream lace; Miss Testar, blue silk with net blouse: Mrs. Kirkby, black voile with ecru Valenciennes lace on corsage ; Miss Godfrey, pale blue voile, cream lace yoke; Mrs. Evans, pale grey silk; Mrs. W. Bayly, green taffetas. Mrs. Arnold Jones, at her lovely home in Vivian-street gave a very pleasant bridge party last Thursday evening. The prizes were won by Mrs. G. Kebbell (first), Mrs. Fitzherbert (second). Laing, black silk: Mrs. Collins, floral taffetas finished with laee insertion; Mrs. Johns, mauve silk, with cream net chemisette and sleeves: Mrs. Wylie, black satin trimmed with emerald green velvet; Mrs. Evans, black velvet and real laee: Mrs XValter Bayly, pale blue and brown striped taffetas, bodice finished with ore-;rr insertion; Mrs. Percy Webster, black silk, lovely Limerick lace shoulder scarf; Mrs. Alexander. black silk with sequined berthe; Miss Wood, cream silk blouse, black skirt; Mrs. Pat Webster, black skirt, cream silk blouse: Miss Read, black and pink striped chiffon blouse, black silk skirt; Miss Kirkby, cream net over silk; Miss Wordsworth t Auckland > , pale pink muslin; Miss Mackay, cream silk; Miss Brown, black silk and laee; Miss Stanford, black silk, real lace berthe; Miss Webster, black skirt, ehene floral silk blouse; Miss L. Carthew, heliotrope silk and eream laee blouse, black silk skirt; Miss Standish* white muslin, with floral ribbon sash.

PersonaL Miss B. Rennell. who is severing her connection with the New Plymouth Investment Society, was presented by Mr. J. B. Connet (chairman) with a gold bangle. Miss O. Wordsworth (Auckland) is the guest of Miss Standish, New Plymouth. Mr. Leslie Kirkby, who has been visiting his sister, Mrs. Penn, New Plymouth, has returned to Hawke’s Bay. Miss E. Simpson, New Plymouth, has gone to live in Napier. Mrs. Brocklehurst (Waitara) is the guest of Mrs. (Dr.) Horne, New Plymouth. Mrs. (Dr.) McNaughton Christie (Wanganui) has been on a short visit to her home in New Plymouth, but has now returned.
