June 25. Afternoon Tea. Mrs. Donner gave a very pleasant little afternoon tea at her residence in Chi Ider’s Road on Friday last. The hostess was gowned most becomingly in a white cloth costume, with blouse composed of real lace. Amongst those who were there I noticed: Mrs. Sheriff, wearing a tweed coat and skirt, and a black

hat trimmed with featiiers, etc.; Mrs. Bennett, grey tweed eoat aud skirt with hat to correspond; Mrs. Charles Gray, navy blue costume, navy hat; Mrs. H. Williams, prune cloth costume, made in Princess style, with touches of white cloth and blaek braid, prune-coloured hat with clusters of flowers; Mrs. Mann, brown silk with large brown hat trimmed with swathed silk and wings; Mrs. Kells, brown tailor-made coat and skirt, brown satin hat; Mrs. Mac Lean, grey coat and skirt, grey hat trimmed with violets; Mrs. Reynolds, green tweed costume; Mrs. Poynter (Wellington), black and white check costume, small black toque; Mts. Wachsmann, tweed coat and skirt, black hat; Mrs. Williams, green check tweed coat and skirt, large violet hat with wings, etc.; Mrs. Jex-Blake, navy blue costume with touches of emerald green, green and blue hat to match; Mrs. Symes, blue and black striped coat and skirt, braided in black, heliotrope hat; Mrs. Agnew-Brown, grey cheek costume with touches of green, black hat; Mrs. Henry White, pale green coat and skirt with toque of same shade; Mrs. W. Barker, grey and black check costume with touches of passementerie, large grey hat and furs; Mrs. Carmichael, blaek cloth costume and handsome bear furs; Mrs. Barker, sen., dress of shot black and purple silk, blaek velvet mantle«and black bonnet ; Miss Brooke-Taylor, tailormade costume and black toque; Miss Schumacher, white serge costume with facings of coloured cloth, large hat swathed in silk and ospreys; Mrs. Willock, grey and black striped coat and skirt, large black hat; Miss Loisel, smart tailor-made costume; Mrs. Foster, rich

Mr. Healy (Inspector Of the Bank of Australasia) and Mrs. Healy, of Melbourne, are in Gisborne at present, and are staying at the Masonic Hotel. Miss Nixon, of Dunedin, is the guest of Mrs. W. Barker.

Mr., Mrs. and Miss Ensor have gone South for a trip. Miss Brookfield, of Auckland, is on a visit to her aunt (Mrs. Kissling).

Mr. and Miss Monckton and Miss Worthington have returned from their trip to Auckland and Rotorua. ELSA.
