Dear Bee, October 2. The weather was delightful for the second day’s racing at the WANGANUI SPRING MEETING. and many smart costumes were seen on the lawn. Mrs. A. Fitzherbert (Feilding), navy blue cloth with moss green velvet bands, and silk tassels the • same shade, black straw hat with green silk; Airs. Innes (Palmerston North), navy blue cloth tailor-made coat and skirt with levers of pastel blub cloth, burnt straw hat with ruching of pastel blue velvet, and large berries with foliage; Mrs-. K. Dunean (Wellington), Nattier blue cloth •■oat and skirt, very becoming Leghorn hat with the crown covered in block roses and foliage, with shaded orchids, giving a high effect; Mrs. Rawson I Well-ington),-rose shadede frieze, three quarter tight-fitting coat and skirt, stylish black crinoline straw hat. with crown composed of rose-shaded stocks':; Mrs. Levin (Palmerston North), greenish tweed s’oat and skirt, stone marten stole and muff, shot green silk hat, with ruching of dull green silk, and a large shaded green bird; Miss Abraham (Palmerston North), golden brown and cream-striped flannel eoat and skirt, brown hat with wings and green silk in it: Miss V. McDonnel (Auckland), navy blue Melton coat and skirt, brown fur stole and mull, black crinoline straw hat with kilted silk and andwhite striped silk gown with kimotweed coat and skirt, cream vest, white felt hat with black glace silk bows and large pink rosy with foliage; Miss Imlay, black silk costume, coat of the same material with applique, black straw toque with ostrich' tips, tulle and Oriental silk embroidery: ill's. Jackson, navy blue and white striped silk gown with yoke.ami long cuff’s of laee and net, felt hat with white Clique feathers and Howers; Mrs. Fairburn, sapphire blue silk frock, with filet net and gold embroidery on the lunliee, nattier blue hat with shot silk and large brown shaded bird; Mrs. lames Watt, cream doth costume, with square yoke of cream, embroidered silk, outlined with a strapping of doth, black picture hat with tulle and ostrich tips; Mrs. Hole, grey tweed eoat and skirt, with a faint blue stripe in it, laee vest, pretty Saxe blue straw hat, with high crown, covered with ruching of narrow Valenciennes laee; Mrs. Hawke, bright navy tweed Eton eoat and skirt, with collar, cuffs, and revers of white cloth, navy straw bat with ruche, of blue tulle and

Cowper, electric blue Shantung silk gown, embroidered with silk the same shade, and French knots, fancy straw hat with chiffon and flowers; Mrs, Peel, dark heliotrope striped tweed coat and skirt, with military braid, felt hat the same shade, With velvet and coque feathers; Miss A. ,Cowper wore a black and white striped silk frock, with yoke and under-sleeves of filet net, black and white straw hat with plumes; Miss Wilford, becoming pale grey cloth gown, with yoke of tucked grey chiffon and lace, large black silk hat with ostrich tips, and shaded iblue rose with foliage; Mrs. F. Moore, navy blue cloth costume, navy straw bat with kilted silk and quills; Mrs. J. Foster, greenish tweed tailor-made, Stone Marten stole, smart heliotrope velvet hat (with pink and heliotrope shaded stocks, and a large heliotrope bird at the back. On Tuesday evening a number of Mrs. iDodgshun and Mr. Gordon Dodgshuu’s friends gave a very enjoyable FAREWELL DANCE in the Fire Brigade Hall. A delicious supper was laid iin an adjoining room, (the table being prettily decorated with yellow creeper and heliotrope anemones tn low vases. Mrs. Dodgshun wore a landsome black silk gown, with transparent cream lace yoke, embroidered with pale pink flowers and leaves; Mrs. Christie, black silk, with overskirt of net land jet; Mrs. Mason, old rose and cream (Striped silk gown, with filet net sleeves and -vest, the corsage profusely trimmed with cream lace; Mrs. Wall, pale blue hilk, with overskirt of blue chiffon, the Itrained skirt having gaugings of the chiffon at intervals, pink roses in her corsage and. in her coiffure; Miss Barton, ipale bhie silk, with French tucks on the skirt and swathed corsage; Miss —- Barton, white silk gown, with berthe of silver sequin net; Miss Mason, pale pink Bilk, with panel, in the front edged wqth French knots, and real lace on her corsage; Miss J. Mason, white muslin, with kimono straps of embroidery threaded (with Saxe blue ribbons, the same entwined in her coiffure; Mrs. J. Anderson, plack silk gown, with berthe effect of net, fend sequins; Miss W. Anderson wore a Jbeautiful tangerine silk, with panels of Silver sequin embroidery on the skirt, And 'the same banded on her corsage; Mise Brettargh, pale blue silk Empire gawn, with lace on her corsage; Miss V. (MoDonne.l (Auckland), white satin frock, (With gauged net on her corsage, and ftouehes of silver; Miss D. Brettargh, (white muslin frock, with silk sash; Miss (Hill (Auckland), pale heliotrope silk, (With overskirt of chiffon made in Empire Style, with lace, on her corsage; Miss (Webster (Wellington), dainty white silk frock, with chiffon and lace on her corkage, bordered with silver embroidery; Miss Darley, handsome sky blue Bilk frock, with overskirt of cream face; Miss Mcßeth, white embroidered -muslin frock, with pale blue ribbons; Miss Ashcroft, pale helioj. trope silk gown, with kimono straps, • edged with velvet of a darker shade; Miss C. Anderson, white silk, with overskirt of figured net, and tucked chiffon; Miss E. Anderson, white silk gown, with wide tucks in the skirt, and lace in her Corsage, with chon of periwinkle blue ribbons, the same in her coiffure; Miss Oliver wore a very becoming pale blue chiffon taffetas gown, with French knots On the skirt and corsage. The weather was beautiful ’ FOR GOLF on Wednesday • — almost too warm to play a hard game. The attendance on the links was good. Afternoon tea I (was provided by Misses Cooper and Miss a liver.
