Dear Bee, October 1. Miss Russell, of Fitzherbert, gave a small afternoon tea last Monday. Those present included Mrs Walter Strang, Mrs Harold Cooper, Miss Green, Miss Abraham, Miss Hewitt, Miss M. Waldegrave, Miss Warburton, Miss O’Brien. Last Friday night Mrs Morrah, of the Bank of Australasia, entertained a few friends at bridge. Mr and Mrs Morrah, Miss Morrah, (Wellington), Mr and Mrs Barnicoat, Mr and Mrs Bendall, Mr and Mrs Holmes and Mr and Mrs W. Keeling were those playing. We are enjoying the most beautiful sunny days,' and summer frocks are being worn. Among others I have noticed; lately were: Mrs Louisson wearing a cream doth Eton costume, pretty lace vest, navy hat with floral ribbon; Mrs MeKnight, white embroidered muslin, black hat with black tips; Mrs W. Keeling, cream Eton coat and skirt, cream hat with turquoise blue silk trimming; Mrs Bendall. pale grey. Eton eoat and skirt, black hat with striped silk bows; Miss Walddgrave, pale blue doth costume cream hat with pink roses; Miss E. McLennan, pale grey eoat and skirt, green hat.

The Misses Glendinning gave a small afternoon tea recently in honour of their guest, Mrs Minto, of Wanganui. Miss Glendinning wore a black and white silk frock, trimmed with cream laee insertion; Miss R. Glendinning, rich black silk froek, finished at the neck and wrists with beautiful lace ; Mrs Minto, nil green silk voile, with cream laee and velvet ribbon of a darker shasie; Mrs Rutherford, dark green cloth Eton coat and skirt, green hat with coque feathers; Mrs Opie, grey a»d

white striped Eton costume, hat with pale blue silk and white feather; Mrs Greig. French grey Eton coat ami skirt, hat of same shade with violet floral ribbon and feathers: M,rs frs-ott, black cloth coat and skirt, black hat with black feathers; Mrs Knight, navy costume made with short coat, braided in black, black hat with feathers; Mrs Scott, navy blue coat and skirt, navy ami green hat. Masterton. is the guest of Mrs Smith, Bank of New Zealand. Palmerston. Miss Morrah, who has been visiting Mr and Mrs Morrah, Bank of Australasia. Palmerston, returned to Wellington last week. Mrs Tripe, Palmerston. Iras returned from a short visit to Wellington. Miss Suttie, Auckland, has been staying with her sister, Mrs A. Eliot. Palmerston. Mrs Warburton and Mrs Mellsop, of Palmerston, have gone to Dunedin to compete in the golf tournament being held there. • Mr and Mrs F. Connell have returned from their trip to Sydney. Mrs Leckie, Wellington, is staying with her mother, Mrs Taplin, Palmerston. VIOLET.
