CAMBRIDGE.
Dear Bee, Jan. 5. There has been very little social news to write about lately. Every one has been too busy preparing for family gatherings at Xmas time, or getting ready to go away to the seaside, to think of entertaining. On Monday. New Year’s Eve, the Marie Narelle Concert Company gave one of their charming concerts, which was a great treat for Cambridge. After the concert a party adjourned to "Waterside.” the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Isherwood, to see the old year out and the new year in. The time was |>a-sed very pleasantly with music and singing, and a recherhe supper. On the stroke of 12 all joined hands and sang "Auld laing Syne.” Mrs. Isherwood received lier guests in a graceful black voile toilet, with yoke of cream lace. Amongst others, I noticed Mrs. James Hally in a white embroidered muslin skirt, white silk blouse trimmed with Tcneriffe work; Mrs. Arthur Herreid (Auckland), black silk evening dress, bodiee cut square at neek, and elbow sleeves; Mrs. S. Adams (Auckland), blaek silk blouse, blaek voile skirt; Mrs. A. Gibbons, white silk gown trimmed with string coloured lace: Miss Stevenson (Auckland), heliotrope muslin with silk ceinture to match: Miss Hally, pink mousseline de soie evening frock trimmed with cream lace: Miss Wright, white embroidered muslinc: Miss Gwynneth, white s'lk blen-c, blaek silk skirt.
ELSIE.
