PALMERSTON NORTH.

Dear Bee, December 22. Last Thursday evening the CAMPBELL-STREET SCHOOL PUPILS gave their annual concert, and entertainment in the Opera House. That large building was crowded with admiring relatives and friends, who thoroughly enjoyed the very clever efforts of the juvenile performers to entertain them. The lengthy programme of thirty-four items was carried out most, successfully under the guidance of Mr. C. 11. Warden. Miss Reed and. Mr. Gabites also assisted. The opening speech was cleverly made by Master Jack McKnight. The accompaniments were excellently played by little Miss Ivy Smith. Among the. audience I noticed Mrs. Cohen, Mrs. Maclntyre. Miss Ruby Maclntyre, Mrs. and the Misses Wood, Mr. and Mrs. McKnight, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Lissaman, Miss Wyatt, Mrs. and Miss Tingey, Mrs. Aleliish, Mr. Cooper, Mr. and Miss Glendinning. Mr., Mrs. and Miss Reed, Mrs. and Miss Watson, Mr. Clarkson, Mrs. A. N. Gibbons, Mr. and Aire. Bett. Mrs. Pringle, Mrs. Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Dowdall, Mr. and Mrs. Croucher, etc., etc. The following evening the pupils of ST. MARY’S CONVENT gave a concert in aid of Hie hospital funds. The stage of the Opera House had been tastefully arranged as a drawingroom, and looked effective with palms and large vases of lilies. Every item was most, creditably given, and refleeted the greatest credit on the Sisters. Piano solos were played by Miss Frances Waldegrave and Miss O’Connor. Miss Perrin sang Rossini's cavatina, “Belraggio Lucinghier,” and received a vigorous encore. Miss Cameron sang excellently “Ah S’estino.” Other performers were: A duet by Misses O’Connor, Thacker, Coombs and Aleechan; a quartette, “O, Lovely May,” Misses Rush, Clifford, Simpson and Cameron; a duet, “Venetian Boat Song,” by Misses Perrin and Porter; piano duet, by Misses Gardner and Rawlins; “Ave Maria,” by Misses Ethel Abraham, Perrin and Cameron; a trio, “Come, Sisters. Come,” by Misses Rusli, Clifford and Cameron. The final item was a chorus, “O! Sing to God,” the soloists being Misses E. Abraham and O’Brien. The accompaniments were played by Mr. P. Tombs. Among the audience were- Mrs. and Misses Abraham, Mrs. and Miss O’Brien, Mrs. and Alias Trixie Waldegrave. Airs. Porter, Mrs. Dernier, Air. and Airs. Power, Airs. Clifford, Airs. Rawlins, Airs. Jamieson, Mrs. and Aliss Coombs, Airs. Rush.

Saturday was a showery, dismal day, and the attendance at the local TENNIS COURTS not as good as usual. The bachelors gave the tea, and proved the most attentive of hosts. Those on the lawns included Mrs. Fitzherbert, Airs. Jamieson, Airs. McKnight, Airs. Gould, Airs. Mcßae, Airs. Aiekeen, Airs. Shiras, Airs. McGill, Airs, and Misses Randolph, Mrs. BendalJ, Airs.
