GISBORNE.
Dear Hee, December 23. After the garden and tennis parties we have once more settled down into the even tenor of our way, and have ■been fairly quiet during this last week. On Saturday a tennis team of six men players came from Napier, and in the morning played doubles with Gisborne ladies AT THE KAITI COURTS. In the afternoon men's doubles were played, in which the visiting team were victorious. Amongst the Indies were: —Mrs Murray, in a white linen dress, French sailor; Miss B. Murray, white muslin, with red spots, white, hat; Mrs T. A. Coleman, black and lavender muslin, black hat; Mrs A. W. Rees, navy blue muslin, eream hat; Mrs E. A. Pavitt, pink linen, black hat; Mrs H. Bayly, cream dress, cream alpaca coat with lavender facings; Mrs Sainsbury, blaek costume; Mrs 11. Cato, white muslin, pale blue hat; Miss M. Bradley, white silk; Miss B. Bradley, cream voile, pale blue hat; Mrs F. Parker, navy blue muslin, blue and white hat; Miss Nolan, grey voile, red hat; Miss Twigg, white muslin, blue hat : Miss E. Coleman, Royal blue voile, with cream insertion, hat to match. Others present were:—Mrs Carmichael, Mrs Barlow, Mrs Kane, Mrs. Paris, Mrs Palairet, Mrs Foster, Misses Wallis, Boylan (2). Reynolds (2), Booth, Cussen, McCredie. Afternoon tea was provided by the lady members and served by Mesdames Coleman, Murray, and Kane. On Thursday Mrs John Clark gave an AFTERNOON TEA at “Riverslea,” Te Aral. It was rather an unpleasant day, with a strong westerly blowing, but a good many people drove out from town and the surrounding country. Mrs Clark received her guests in a green voile dress. Miss Eva Clark wore a dainty white muslin. A few of those present, were:—Mrs Morgan, Mrs Sydney Williamson, Mrs AV. Barker, Mrs Morrison, Mrs McEean, Mrs Cyril White, Mrs AA r aliis, Miases Watlis, Woodbine-Johnstone.
