Dear Bee, October 27. On Wednesday, 18th inst., Mrs Henry Peake gave a very enjoyable FAREWELL BRIDGE PARTY for Mrs Dyer. Mrs Godwin won the prize—a copper photo frame—and Mrs C. Jones won the booby. Amongst tho guests were Mesdames Godwin. C, Jones, Gordon, Kissling, Sajjeant, Dyer, Moss, John Stevenson, Blundell, Dodgshun, Misses Brewer, Owen, and Dodgshun, On Thursday evening Mrs J. C, Greenwood gave ANOTHER FAREWELL BRIDGE PARTY to Airs Dyer. Amongst those present were Mesdames Stevenson, Kissling, Hughes-Johnston, Newcombe, Blundell, Dyer, Moss, Peake, Kissling, Misses Stanford (2), Jones (2), Best, Tennant. Alls Moss was the fortunate winner of a carved salad spoon and fork. Miss O. Stanford won the second prize, and the booby fell to Airs Dyer. On Monday afternoon Airs Krull gave a small AFTERNOON TEA in honour of Mrs Von Sedlitz, of Wellington. During the afternoon Aladame Emily Briggs delighted her listeners with her charming singing. Amongst the. guests were Airs Fitzherbert, Mrs and Miss Moore, Airs G. Marshall, Mrs and Aliss F.mpson, Miss Acland (Christchurch), Miss Cameron. Airs 11. G. Lethbridge, Mrs Montgomerie, Airs'Von Sedlitz (Wellington), Mrs A. Izard, Mrs and Aliss Alexander, and Mrs .Earle. On Alonday, 23rd inst., after a brief absence AIR WATKIN AHLLS and his talented concert company gave a farewell programme at the Opera House to a large and appreciative audience. Aliss Gertrude Lonsdale wore a becoming cream satin gown with vandyked insertions of exquisite lace on the trained skirt, her corsage was of fine cream lace, and full sleeves of eream net. Aliss Edith Kirkwood was gowned in a pretty pale blue Louisine silk frock, gauged trained skirt, fichu of cream lace on corsage, soft cream net
tucker, finished with a gathering of black velvet ribbon. Amongst the audience I noticed Airs and Aliss Alexander, Miss Cameron. Mrs 11. G. Lethbridge (Wangaehu), Mr and Airs A. Izard, Airs Von Sedlitz (Wellington), Mr and Airs O. Lewis (Fordell), Airs and Aliss Empson, Aliss 11. Acland (Canterbury), Miss Arkwright (Rangitikei), Mrs G. Marshall, Aliss Moore. Air and Airs James Watt, Aliss Krull, Aliss Christie, Airs R. Lethbridge (Turakina), Air and Airs A. E. Kitchen, Air and Airs Gonville Saunders, Miss Imlay. Miss Higgle, Alisses Bristoe, Jones, Peat, Jackson, Baker, Messrs Peck, Alorrison, Cohen, Woon, Harold, C. Johnston, Wray, Hales (Wellington), F. L. Jackson (Dannevirke), Rev. A. W. H. Compton, Dr. Innes, and others. On Tuesday Airs S. Gordon gave A FAREWELL PROGRESSIVE BRIDGE PARTY in honour of Airs Dyer. Airs HughesJohnston won the prize—a quaint motto jug—and the booby fell to Mrs Dodgshun. Amongst those present were Alesdames Sarjeant, Greenwood, A. Lewis, Blundell, Kissling, Cleghorn, John Stevenson, Griffiths, 11. Peake, Newcombe, Hughes-Johnston, Moss, Dyer, Brettagh, Fenwick, Gordon, Alisses Gresson, Brewer, and Dodgshun.
