Dear Bee, October 20. Last Thursday evening the Misses Newcombe gave a most enjoyable PROGRESSIVE EUCHRE PARTY. I he ladies’ prize was won by Mi-s ( leghorn, the men’s by Mr Harold, and the booby fell to Miss Knapp. Amongst those present were Misses Newcombe (2), Gilford, Knapp. O’Brien. M. Jackson, J. Empson. I), ( leghorn. Brabant, I owsey. Baker. Dodgshun. Stuart (Wellington), Trainor, Griffiths, Stanford, Liditon. Lusk (Auckland), Messrs Harold. Lomas. Armour, Hope, Gibbons, Stevenson. Pickering. Hayden, Dr. Wall, auj. others. MISS BREWER’S ANNUAL BALL. was held in the Drill Hall on Friday <■ veiling. In spite of the stormy weather the room was comfortably filled, and the ball was a most decided sur<*ess. The features of the evening were the march quadrilles, a Grecian Hower dance, and skipping-rope dance, beautifully danced by some of Miss Brewer’s pupils. The lady's prize, a framed picture, was won by Mrs Barna rd-Brown; Ihe men’s picture fell to Mr S. Gordon: the lady’s booby, a .-•mrlliiig salts bottle, was won by Mrs Griffiths; and the men’s, a silver pencil ease, by Mr Silk. Amongst those present were Mr ami Mrs Stevenson, Mr and Mrs A.
