The* long-looked-fetr Hunt ( lub hall is now a thing of (Ju* past, and only recollections of it are* left Needless Io say they are very pleasant ernes, as Ibis ball is the* feature* e»f the* year in Hawera. I think this erne* e\e*n surpassed all e>thers, such splendid work having be e*n done by the* various committees. The* decorations were* carried out on a lavish scale*. The* siele-roemi, which is generally used for supper, was utiliseel as a draw ing room. It. was curtained e>fi‘ into three* rooms, anil these* were* very eosily fitted up with armchairs. I<mnge*s. etc., with a baclgrouml of masses of greenery, which gave* a most pleasing effect. Hook’s Sample Koem-.s (wirich adjoin the* Opera llemse) were* useel for supper, ami a capital idea it proved le> be too. the* old siipper-roenn never having lw'e*n large* eneuigh. The* supper, as usual, was a most sumptuenis one. The* table det-orat’/ms were* rharmihigly carried out, mostly in the* Hunt (Tub e-olemrs, led and white, and those re*sponsihie* are* to be congratulated on 1 heir work, as flowers are* se> very scarce* just now. The music supplieel by Mc Kinnon Bain's Orchestra, of New Plymouth, was excellent. T'h<*re* were* about one* hundred couples present, which is not epiife* as many as last ye*ar. Naturally- the lie»or was not te»e> creiwded. and dancing was more enjeiyable. Visit e>rs were* present from all parts, e ven as far Semi h as Rangitikei.
