Dear Bee, May 4. On Thursday, the 27th. Miss Freda Marsden gave A MOST SUCCESSFUL INVITATION CONCERT in St. Paul’s Hall. The performers were Miss Freda Marsden (violin). Miss Edgar (piano), Mr Edgar Rondal (or gan). and vocal items were contributed by Mr Ilardwicke and the Rev. A. \V. 11. Compton. Amongst the large and fashionable audience I noticed Mrs Alexander in a handsome black and white evening costume with gauged chiffon and lace on corsage; Aliss Alexander, black silk, stylish opera cloak of blue and cream cloth applique Howers outlined with gold; Miss Eraser, black crepe de chine, frock with Ashaped yoke of champagne lace relieved w it h pale pink, full sleeves with deep frill: Aliss Stanford wore white long opera coat of deep cloth edged with grey fur: Aliss G. Stanford, white muslin opera cloak of'pale pink silk and white fur; Aliss Gresson, black evening gown, pretty electric blue cloth opera

coat edged with fur; Mrs Bridge water, white tucked silk blouse with lace and insertion, black voile skirt: Mrs Blundell, black silk, transparent yoke of sequin set with band of jet on corsage; Mrs S. Gordon wore black silk evening frock, with cream lace on corsage; Mrs John Stevenson, black silk skirt, white silk blouse with, panels of beauti fully embroidered Howers and leaves on it ; Miss Ida Stevenson, black voile skirt, pah* pink silk blouse, with lace and insertion; Miss 11. Blundell', gauged white silk frock, relieved with turquoise blue silk ribbon; Miss Marsden wore a dainty white silk gown, elbow sleeves with full net frill, fichu of net and sash, chon and streamers of lemon shaded silk; Mrs Simpson, black brocaded gown with wide berthe of champagne lace; Mr Marsden, black velvet lace collar on bodice; Mrs 'Taylor, black silk cream lace fichu: Mrs Geo. Harper (Mangamahu), crimson tucked silk blouse with insertion, black silk skirt; Mrs A. Sherrill’ wore a becoming white silk frock with berthe of lace, white brocaded opera cloak edged with fur; Miss Edgar wore a becoming gowp of white silk, the trained skirt made with lace flounces, gauged bodice with frills of soft lave, ami full silk sleeves, white satin bow in her coiffure; Miss Bates, white gauged silk frock with lave, on corsage; Miss Parkes, white silk tucked and trimmed with insertion, white opera cloak edged with fur; Mrs Bignail, black voile skirt braided with black satin ribbon, pretty white silk blouse with lace and insertion. There were also present Messrs Stevenson, J. G. Woon, Bignail, Bates. Parkes, I lardwicke, Armour, Bridgewater and others. On Friday evening a most enjoyable SURPRISE PARTY was given at Mrs Pat tic Izett’s. in Plymoiil h-st reel. Amongst those present were Mr and Mrs Pattle-Izett, Mr and Mrs Sarjeant. Mrs Greig. Mrs Simpson, Misses Baker, Jackson. Rawson. Greig (2), J. Empson, Moore ( Wairarapa), Izard. McGowan, G. Krull. McNeill, Messrs Harold. Stevenson. Jones, Moon* (Wairarapa), Chamberlain. Armour, Anderson, Dr. Wall and others.
