Bear Ike, May 6th. The Napier Golf Club opened their season at the Waihiki Links on Saturday afternoon. The weather was all 1 hat could be desired, and good practice was enjoyed. Amongst those present were:—Mesdames — Moore, Jardine, Perry. Kennedy, Donnelly, Edgar, Misses Balfour, Broughton, Davis, Todd, Fannin, Rutherford. Dinwiddie, Bennett Burke. Messrs. Mathias, Williams,' Kennedy, Jardine, Cotterill, Murray, Dinwiddie, (to. 'the Hastings Golf Club open <1 with a mixed foursome match, in which Miss Braithwaite and Mr. C. Tipping (scr.) with a score of 117 were first. Miss Rita Seale and Mr. Wetley (hep. 4) came in second with 117, and Miss Well wood and Mr. Cox (hep. 6) were 119. Two on joyable concerts, in aid of the Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association w<tre held in the Theatre Royal on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. , Amongst the performers wore Mrs. Gower Burns. Miss K. Young. Miss Lloyd Hassell. Herr Max Hoppe, Mr. Percy Denton, Mr. St. L. Toner. Mr. Paget Ga-lf*. 'ilutre were large audiences each evening. Mrs. Humphries wore black; Miss Humphries, white and pale blue; Miss Williams, black and white; Mrs. McLean, black; Miss Wilson, (ream; Miss Dalzell, cream; Miss McLernon, a black dress trimmed with chiffon; Mesdames Cato, Williams, Smith, Brabant. Lusk, Morris, Misses McVay, M>’rgoliouth. Kennedy. Dinwiddie. White, Lj irge, MacFarlane. Brabant, Messrs. Saxeby. Dinwiddle, Murgoliouib. Williams. Cato. McLean were also amongst those present.
