BOXING.
WELLINGTON CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIPS. WELLINGTON, Monday. The hexing tournament under the management of the Wellington Centre of (he New Zvalnnd Boxing Association concluded in the Exchange Hall on Saturday, when the finals for the championships of the Centre were decided. There was an enthusiastic audience, and the contests being willing win* greatly appreciated. In every instance the derision of the referee met with the approval of the audience, a fart which speaks well for Mr R. Jarrett’s judgment. The contests wore decided as follows: Burla m weights: F. E. Clifford beat J. Gosling, the former showing superior generalship. Featherweight: Spi Thomas beat W. Crawford, the winner being stronger and getting in effective work. Lightweights: T. Sampson beat Gnat Williams, after the host boxing bout of the evening, there being little to choose between the mon. Middleweight: W. P. Redgrave beat 11.. Rogers, the former outpointing hlti man. Heavyweight: A rough and unscientific encounter J. got the verdict over 11. Rather.
