AUCKLAND GOLF CLUB.
The members of the Auckland Golf held their annual meeting on Saturday night, the Hou. Seymour Thorne George. M L <’.. presiding. Th<» annual report showed the membersldp of the club as follows: —Flaying membeis, 92; nou-players, 37; life members. 23; country members, 19: absentee metnbers. 18: boy members. 7: total, !*•»♦>. l iic report also stated that lhe course had been coimlderably altered so as to prevent any interference with the use of the hill by the general public. The new course was longer aud more difficult than the old one, which the committee considered an Improvement. Regret wns expressed In the report that Mr. GUlles hod Intimated that he must resign the position of hon. secretary, which be had held since the Instlfu-< tfon of the chib in 1894. nnd the asslstanre and co operation of the Ladles’ Club was
gtatefully acknowledged . Owing to the Increase of membership In the Club, the ladles clubrooui had been enlarged, and a new dressingrouin built, the greater part of the cost being defrayed by the Ladles’ Club. A new workshop for the professional. F. G. Hood, whose term c-t engagement had been extended, had also been erected. The following were the results of the year’s matches:- Mixed foursomes: G. M. Fry challenge trophy: Dr. Coates. George cup: W. N. Heather. Captain’s prizes: Senters E iurer; juniors. E. A. Dargaville. Mixed foursomes: L. Mair and Mrs. Mair. J. W. Hall's prize: C. llindley. Accounts, i’he balance sheet showed: Receipts, AZSOI: less rents due from last year, £4l: total, £?»>••. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron, Il’s Excellency the Governor; president, Kir John Logan Campbell: vice-presidents, the lion. 8. Kirker, and W. W. Bruce. Votes of thanks weie passed to Mr. C. E. 8. Gillies for his past services as secretary, and to Messrs. Crombie and Sykes.
