AQUATICS.
NORTH SHORE YACHT CLUB. The North Shore Yacht Chib’s final series of races was held on Saturday afternoon. The starting of the races was delayed half-an-heur owing to the light wind. The results are as follows: — Second-Class Yachts: Pert, Bm., 1: Matus, 4m. 2; Wairere, scratch. 3. Also started: Janet, Xjm.; TangartKi, 11m.; Poueke, 14m. The finishing times were: — Peri, 6h. 32m. 335. ;Walrere, 6h. 33m. 325.; Matua, 6b. 34m. 25®.; Janet, dh. 39ni. lOs. Poneke gave up. The Wairere thus wins the Ferry Company’s trophy for the greatest number of points secured in this class for the season. Fifth Class Yachts: —Ak>fa, scratch. If Kotare, 2m. 2; Mavourneen, 6m., 3. Also started: Melba. 6m.; Hauili, 6m.. Icarus, 11m. The finishing times were:—Alofa, SU. 28m. 35.; Kotare, sb. 35m. Ils.; Mrvoufneeu, sh. 43m. 305.; Melba. sh. 44m. 55.; Icarus, 6h. 13m. 15s. Alofa and Melba tie for Mr J. W. Frater’s trophy in this class with five points each.
Sixth Class:—Eileen, 24m. 1; Freak. 29m. 2; Hetty, 2m. 3. Also started: Spindrift, scratch, Te Ata, 35m. The finish was:—Hetty, sh. 24m. 255.; Spindrift. sh. 33m. 305.; Eileen, sh. 35m. 2; Freak. sh. 44m. 15s. On time allowance Eileen is first. Freak second, and Hetty third. Eileen wins Messrs Skeates Brothers’ trophy for this class. Seventh Class:—Maroro 6m. 1: Wareho scratch, 2. Sweet Nel! 3m., and Paua 18m. also started, but the wind dropping very light near the finish they retired, being too far behind to complete the course in time. Wareho secures Dr. J. A. Laing’s trophy. WAITEMATA BOATING CLUB. The above club held trial fours for trophies presented by Mr G. Read on Saturday •afternoon. The course was from St. Mary’s Point to I fobeon-street Wharf. The final resulted in a win for C. Porteous' crew, who were scarcely 2 feet ahead of D. Bell, W. Smith's four being a full length behind the last named. NORTH SHORE ROWING CLUB. This Club held trial fours at Cheltenham Beach on Saturday afternoon for trophies presented by Mr G. W. H. Blake, one of the vice-presidents. The final was rowed off between crews stroked by Bayly and Gerrard, the former winning. The names of the winning crew are:—H. H. Bayly, W. Swinnertou, C. Cardno, and A. Fogart hy. WEST END ROWING CLUB. The West End Rowing Club hold trial races on Saturday afternoon, twelve crows being engaged. In the final crews stroked by Allison, Farrell and Camp respectively took part. The last named crew were successful. The names of the winners are C. Camp, C. Wykes, W. W. Wright, and O. Carlaw. THE PONSONBY CRUISING CLUB. The fourth annual picnic of the Ponsonhy Cruising Club was held on Saturday at Pine Island. There was a large attendance of members, friends and representatives of other clubs. A good programme of aquatic and the other sports was gone through. The officials of the day. who deserve much credit for the successful outing. were Messrs F. E. Bav.me, A. Wilson. S. Levy. W. Bettany, J. Conway, T. Di -k--son, W. Wilson. A. Thompson. Trophies wore presented by Messis S. Levy. W. Wilson, H. Johnson. W. Bettany. D. Patterson, T. Thompson, T. Dickson. F. Kunst. E. Message. C. Caramel, F. Blomfield, A. Thompson, B. Corke, nod crews of yachts Merrythought and Mabel. The events were won by Messrs W. Clare. T. Thompson. .1. Mackay (21, A. Braund (2> A. Clare (2). p.
