TII AMES FOOTBALL. NATIVE ROSE WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. THAMES, 19th Oct. Native Rose and Rovers met on Saturday afternoon to decide the senior championship for 1903. The attendance was affected by the rain. In the first spell a forward rush on the part of Native Rose ended in Graham scoring a try between the posts, which Thompson convened. Soon after the commencement of the second spell Rovers carri <1 the ball over the line and scored a try. which Duffy did not convert. A free kick by Thompson and a try scored by Price ceased the Native Rose score to 11. and wh» n lime was called Native Rose wore leading by 11 to 3. Mr G. Pelham had charge of the game. The conference was the result of the resolutions passed by the Of ago Rugby Union recently in connection with the inclusion of the South Canterbury players in the Canterbury representative team that played against Otago , the New .Zealand Unloh not having given n definite ruling on the case.
