THE BOWLING DISPUTE. The Dispute Committee have that the Devonpout Bowling Club are the winners’ of the season’s .fanrnainent, and in: support of tljeii - decision quote the. following .rule:—£‘Thj! -winner of the inter-eluo tournament shall. lie?the club scoring, the .greatest, number of wins.” The Deyonpoft Club , scored- five wins against Auckland’s four in the sectional contests. When the two. teams met Auckland were victorious, and they then claimed to be the winners of the tournament, giving as their reason that, the match was. played in. pursuance of the following announcement, which was inserted in the local press:—“Time not allowing the final to be played between the winners of the respective sections (this refers to the day on which the sectional contests were concluded) it. was decided at a meeting of the Match Committee that the game be played off on the Remuera Green at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday. April 18.” The facts of the ease have been forwarded to the Northern Bowling Association, Wellington, and although the mailer has not come np for consideration, the secretary of that body has informed the loeal authorities that, a large number of the members have given it ar: their opinion that the Auckland Club are entitled to first place in the tournament. : i
