Dear Bee, May 31. Wellington is very dull just now. Hie usual lull in the social world before the gaieties of the session begin, so I am afraid I have very little news to tell you Illis week. Yesterday afternoon and evening an exhibition of sketches was belli in the Art. Gallery. Whitmore-street. It was a very good exhibition, anil one felt sorry that it was only on view for one day. so that lovers of art could have the opportunity of inspecting ami discussing the collection a second time. Mr .1. Nairn sent several charming examples of his well-known masterful work. "Sunrise'' being quite the attraction of the exhibition. I thought Airs Field's sketches some of Hie best in the room, and Miss Richardson's study of a girl's head was extremely clever. Mr C. Worslcy had a large collection on view, all attracting a lot of attention; some of them were lovely lift le works of art. In the afternoon delicious tea and cakes and sweets were thoughtfully provided for the visitors by the lady members of the Art Society, and was greatly appreciated. Among those I noticed in the room were Mrs Adams, Miss IL Moorehouse. Dr. and Mrs Grace. Mrs Dunbar. Mrs Barron, Mrs Newman. Mr and Mrs Wilson and the Misses Wilson. Mr and Mrs Worsley. the Misses Williams. Miami Mrs Nairn. Mrs Fulton, Mr and Mrs Field. Mrs 11. Gore. Mrs and Miss Stafford. Miss Holms. Mrs Tuckev. the Misses Fitzherbert. Mrs and Miss Richmond, Dr. ami Mrs Fell. Miss Warburton, the Misses Newton and manv more. STREET DRESSES. Mrs Barron wears a neat slate grev tailor-made costume ami black laee toque, trimmed with pink roses; Miss Barron, a fawn coat and skirt and black toque, trimmed with blue velvet; Mrs Dunbar, a fawn gown, the top skirt falling over a figmed violet underskirt, and the yoke and sleeves of Hie same, black chiffon toque with violets; Mrs T. Young-, a bright scarlet gown with vest of tucked silk to match, black toque with red poppies; Miss Richmond, black coat and skirt, black straw hat. trimmed with scarlet ribbon loops: Mrs Owen, dull grev coat and skirt and black velvet toque with wings; Miss Fraser, blue eoat and skirt with white satin rovers, pretty pink velvet toque, trimmed with steel and black tips; Mrs Marchbanks, fawn tailor suit and burnt straw toque trimmed with searlei; Miss Fitzherbert, blue coat and skirt and black hat with lips; Miss Ilenrv. tabae brown eoat and skirt, black hat. trimmed with pink silk and tips; the Misses Johnston wear royal blue costumes and crimson toques: Mrs Gould red cloth gown braided with black and a red silk toque with wings; Mrs Wilson, a brown gown with eream vest and toque to match; Miss Simpson, a grey gown, trimmed with black, and a large black hat with lips and pink silk; Miss M. Simpson, fawn coat and skirt, fur toque, trimmed with blue velvet and wings; Mrs Hume, neat blue tailor suit and black ami pink toque; Mrs Still, fawn jacket and skirt, hat to match; Mrs Gillon. grev check gown and black jacket, large black hat with wings.
