CRICKET.

After quite a long spell of fine weather, a change set in last week, and the heavy rain put a stop to all net practice, and towards the end of the week the Domain was in such a state that the Crieket Association had no option but to postpone the opening of the season. This was very unfortunate for players, as* it necessitates a break in the playing of the first match on account of the Cycling Sports which are to be held in the Domain on the 28th inst. Now that the Senior Grade matches are extended over three days J am afraid that these breaks will be even more frequent than was the ease last season, and it is very doubtful if time will permit of more than one round being played. .

On Saturday afternoon the rain held off for a while, and a number of clubs managed to get some practice at the nets.
