PICTON.
Dear Bee, July 6. There was no space in last week’s paper to tell you of the SOCIAL arranged by Dr. and Mrs Millington. A parish SOCIAL GATHERING was held in the new Anglican Sunday-schoolroom on Friday evening for the purpose of opening the room as a parish hall. A very pleasant evening was spent—so pleasant, indeed, that it was resolved to continue the gatherings during the winter. The following programme was rendered at intervals during the evening:—Pianoforte duet, Misses L. and V. Fuller ; children’s action song, ‘ Little Clock;’ ‘ I Fear No Foe,’ Mr J. Price ; speech, Rev. A. H. Sedgwick ; selection, French horn and piano, Mr and Mrs Dobbie ; ‘Jolly Sailor Boy,’ children’s action song; pianoforte solo, Miss E. Philpotts ; ‘Ben Bolt,’ Miss Speed; Speech, Mrs Howard; ‘The Link Divine,’ Miss Laura Clark ; ‘ Holy City,’ Miss Howard; ‘Mother’s Little Maiden,’ children’s action song ; selection, instrumental, Mr and Mrs Dobbie ; ‘ God Save the Queen.’ An excellent supper was provided, and a pleasant time was spent in discussing it and chatting with friends. Among those present were Mr and Mrs Sedgwick, Mr and Mrs Dobbie, Mrs and Misses Fuller (two), Mrs and Misses Price (two), Mrs and Misses Allen (two), Mrs Baillie, Mrs and Misses Philpotts, Misses Harris (two), Mrs and Misses Sealy (two), Mrs and Miss Scott, Mrs J. Mowat (Blenheim), Misses Gard (two), Miss Gilfillan, Mrs and Misses Greensill (two), Misses Dart (three), Misses Fell (two), Miss Seymour, Misses Linton (two), Miss Speed, Miss N. Cawte, Mrs Godfrey, Mrs Howard, Mrs Eyes, Mrs H. Godfrey, Mrs A. Price, Mrs Marchant, Miss Clark (Blenheim), and hosts of children ; Messrs Sedgwick, Howard, Dobbie, J. Geeensill, Price, Fell, Fredericks, Hows, etc., etc. Mrs Sealy managed the musical part of the programme, Miss Howard playing most of the accompaniments. The affair was a decided success.
