BOWLING.

The anuual meeting of the Ponsonby Bowling Club took place in the Club room, on the green, last week. There was a large attendance, Mr D. B. McDonald (President), occupied the chair. The report, which was a very lengthy and satisfactory one, was read bv Mr J. Blades, secretary, and the balance-sheet was read by Mr C. G. Brookes, treasurer. This showed the Club to be in a sound and prosperous condition. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mr Jno. Court; Vicepresidents, Messrs James Coe (re-elected), and James Edmiston; hon. secretary, Mr J. Blades (re-elected); hon. treasurer, Mr C. G. Brookes (re-elected); committee, Messrs J. H. Hudson and R. Littler (re-elected), H. W. Brookes and J Buchanan; green superintendent, Mr R. B. Ballantyne (re-elected). The prizes won during the season were then presented to the successful players: The Club Championship, Mr A. H. Brookes; Champion Doubles, Messrs J. Blades, and H. W. Brookes ; Club t-ours, Messrs R. Noonan, A. Sutherland, C. Blomfield, D. B. McDonald (skip). The following gentlemen were elected delegates to the Auckland Bowling Association : —Messrs D. B. McDonald, A. S. Russell, and J. Blades. It is intended to have Lawn Tennis and Croquet Lawns for the use of lady friends during the ensuing season. The lawns have been laid out and put down in grass. The Bowling Greens also are receiving every attention. The usual votes of thanks and a special vote of thanks to the ladies, coupled with the name of Mrs A. S. Russell, closed a most enthusiastic and successful meeting. Six new members were elected. It is expected that early in January next a bowling tournament will be held in Napier, in which all the clubs in the North Island will take part. Mr J. H. Mentiplay, secretary of the Northern Bowling Association, who has written to the hon. secretary of the Napier Bowling Club, considers that the Napier, Bluff Hill, and Hastings Bowling Greens will be needed for play. These three clubs have decided to co-operate for that occasion.
