WELLINGTON.

Dear Bee, May i. There was a very good attendance at the CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW, which was held at the Skating Rink on Tuesday and Wednesday. Some of the prize blooms were beautiful, indeed, they seem to improve every year. The hand bouquets were prettier than those exhibited last year. The prize for the bridal bouquet was won by Miss Cooper, which was composed of Japanese chrysanthemums, maidenhair fern, and white satin ribbon ; the table decorations were exceedingly pretty. The first prize was given to Miss Barbor, while Miss A. Gore gained second prize. I quite agree with the Morning Timet in thinking that Miss Gore's table was the most artistic, at least for a dinner table. Miss Barbor’s work was on a much more elaborate scale, and the blooms were exceedingly fine. Among the ladies present on the first afternoon I noticed Mrs Alex Crawford, who was wearing a neat black skirt, and stylish silk blouse, black straw toque trimmed with pink roses ; Mrs George Beetham, fawn tailor-made costume, toque of black velvet and pink flowers ; Mrs Pynsent, handsome mauve and black figured crepon, black silk cape, becoming floral bonnet ; Mrs Goring, black cloth costume trimmed with velvet, white hat trimmed with black and white ribbon, and white quills ; Mrs Arthur Gore, neat fawn , tailor - made costume, checked waistcoat, white sailor hat; Mrs Grace, black jacket and skirt, bonnet composed of bronze heads and aigrettes; Mrs White, brown cloth gown trimmed with black satin, straw hat to match trimmed with tips and touched with pink velvet ; Mrs Duncan, stylish costume of grey lustre, Jet bonnet with white aigrettes ; Mrs lan Duncan, navy blue braided costume, black toque trimmed with violets ; Mrs Jellicoe, brown gown, handsome sealskin jacket, brown felt hat with wings ; Mrs Morison, very neat grey tailor-made costume, black and white toque ; Mrs Tweed was wearing a very stylish costume of black and grey striped silk trimmed with jet, bonnet to match ; Mrs Biss, brown tweed costume, hat to match with feathers ; Mrs MacTavish, grey costume with silver passementerie, steel bonnet trimmed with pink flowers ; Mrs Waldergrave, neat fawn covert coating costume, felt hat to match with quills : Mrs Rawson, navy blue tailormade gown, velvet bonnet to match ; Mrs Symons, dark red costume trimmed with fur, large black hat with high tips ; Mrs L. Reid, brown speckled tweed gown, fur cape, brown and yellow bonnet ; Mrs W Nathan, dark green gown handsomely trimmed with passementerie and silk, gold bonnet; Mrs Joseph, handsome black silk jetted gown, sable collar and muff, and jet bonnet; Mrs Lowe, blue cloth costume, white waistcoat, black bonnet with white osprey ; Mrs Harrison, brown costume ; Mrs Leckie, black silk gown, velvet mantle trimmed with feather, black and white bonnet ; Miss O. Connor, brown jacket and skirt, large black hat with feathers; Miss Tuckey, grey tweed gown, small black and red toque ; Miss Johnston, grey and black figured cloth costume, felt hat to match with b ack wing at the side ; Miss A. Gore, blue tailor-made costume, large black hat with high feather and lace ; Miss Cooper, blue cloth jacket and skirt, white sailor hat ; Miss Brandon, fawn crepon trimmed with salmon pink silk and coffee lace, burnt straw hat with bows of shot ribbon ; etc. Last Wednesday night the first of the FORTNIGHTLY ASSEMBLIES took place at the Masonic Hall, and was enjoyed by a large number. The floor was in a splendid condition, as also was the music. A few who were present were Mrs ami Miss Tuckey, the latter wearing a pretty gown of black silk, the bodice relieved with white lace ; Miss Simpson, sky blue silk with berthe of deep white lace; Miss Gibson, yellow silk trimmed with velvet to match ; Miss B. Gibson wore black silk relieved with scarlet flowers ; Miss Pickering, yellow silk with sleeves of moss green velvet ; Miss MacKellar, becoming gown of pale pink crepon ; Miss Reid, black silk and chiffon ; Miss Cotter (Auckland), orange silk and white lace; Miss St fford. bright red silk veiled with net; Miss I.
