Dear Bee, November 11. On Friday evening Miss Gibson gave a small but MOST ENJOYABLE DANCE at the Girls’ College for Miss Gertrude Nelson (Napier). Dancing was kept up with great spirit until a very late, or rather early hour, in the large lecture hall, the floor of which was very gcod. and the mantelpieces, etc., were prettily decorated with beautiful flowers. Supper was served in the dining-room, everything being of the daintiest kind. Miss Gibson wore a handsome black satin gown; Mrs Bain, handsome black silk, pretty lace cap; Mrs Littlejohn wore black: Miss Gribben looked well in heliotrope crepon with lace frills; Miss Watt, pretty green evening gown; Miss Gertrude Nelson looked charming in a beautiful ivory broche gown with real lace on bodice; Mrs E. F. W. Cooke, pink silk and net. Mrs Kissling. soft white crepon with a flounce of black lace on the skirt, bodice trimmed with black ribbon velvet; Miss Glasgow, very pretty pink striped silk crepon ; Miss Wood, buttercup silk; Miss Curtis, heliotrope£ink silk, the bodice trimmed with velvet of a darker shade; Miss eggatt looked pretty in a handsome white corded silk evening dress; Miss Madon (Napier), white silk with sleeves of pale blue ; Miss Heaps, heliotrope crepon with chiffon friiis on the bodice: Miss Pitt, bright red nun’s veiling, the bodice trimmed with black lace ; the Misses Fell (two) wore white crepon gowns; Miss M. Fell (Picton), black velvet; Miss M. Catley. white crepon ; Miss Ethel Mackay looked well in with passementerie on the bodice; Miss G. Jones wore white. Amongst the gentlemen were Messrs Pitt. Joynt. Littlejohn. E. F. W. Cooke, Kissling, King. Levien. Dixon. Drummond. Catley, E. Mackay. Hough, Ellis. Bonar, Adams (two), Corrigan, Washborne, and others. On Wednesday afternoon and evening a SALE OF WORK was held in the Provincial Hall by the Christchurch Ladies' Guild. There were work, refreshment, produce, and flower stalls, but the chief attraction was the Doll Fair, where dolls of every description were to be seen, also dolls in tableaux. Prizes were awarded for the best dressed in several different classes, Mesdames Moore, and Bolton, the Misses Harris and F. Campbell being the chief winners. A prize was also awarded far the best dressed doll by a boy. The success of this Fair was due to Mrs Bromley Bell, assisted by Mrs A. Moore and Miss Harris. Ths other stalls were in charge of Mesdames Kempthorne, Sclanders, Leggatt, Maginnity, Quaine, Bamford, the Misses Wood, Bell, Poole, Demant, and others.
