Dear Bek, November 14. On Wednesday evening Mrs Shand gave a EUCHRE PARTY for Miss Wilford (Wellington). who is staying with Mrs Geo. MacLean (Elder-street). The drawing-room was exceedingly prettily decorated with heaps of flowers of every description, the mantelpiece simply a mass of tulips and rhododendrons, which looked most effective. The supper-table was arranged with blue wood hyacinths and white field daisies. The prizes were won by Miss Belle Mac Lean (top lady), who got two pretty cambric handkerchiefs; top gentleman, Mr Herstall Ulrich, who got a photo frame. The boobies were Miss Georgie Webster (who won a Dresden china figure) and Mr E. Macassey (small china cup and saucer). Mrs Shand received her guests in the drawingroom. and wore a black lustre trimmed with black silk ; Miss Shand, yellow silk blouse trimmed with jet. black skirt: Miss E. Shand, sky-blue silk blouse trimmed with blue chiffon ; Miss L. Shand, pale pink silk blouse with bows of green satin ribbon ; Miss Morris, white corded silk trimmed with white lace : Miss L. Wilford (Wellington), black velvet with full frill of pink chiffon round the neck of the bodice; Miss B. Mac Lean, pink silk blouse covered with string-coloured lace; Miss E. Mac Lean. cream silk blouse; Miss K. Mac Lean, white honeycomb cloth dress lavishly trimmed with white chiffon; Miss E. Ulrich. blue corded silk blouse, fichu of white chiffon, black silk skirt; Miss H. Driver, cream muslin blouse trimmed with cream lace : Miss 'J. G. Web<ter. black corded silk, the bodice trimmed with cream lace; Miss C. Ramsay, pink crepon. deep frill of white chiffon: Miss M. Ramsay, white crepon, white chiffon trimmings; Miss Patterson (Wellington), white corderoy. white satin ribbon trimmings; Miss Bartieman, white satin swathed bodice simply trimmed with white lace ; Mias S. Bartieman. salmon-pink silk trimmed with passementerie. The gentlemen present were Messrs Law. Wright. Dick. Tapley. Harvey, Ulrich, E. Macassey, Cheeseman, Cameron and others. On Thursday evening Mrs Mac Lean gave a very enjoyable DINNER PARTY at her residence in Elder-street. The table was most daintily arranged with heliotrope clematis. Those present were Mesdames Mac Lean. Wilford (Wellington). Misses B Mac Lean. K. MacE. Mac Lean. L. Wilford (Wellington). Gibson. E. Gaulter (Christchurch), L. Holmes, Messrs Law, Tapley, Ulrich, F. Ulrich, Moodie. Wright and Harvey. Last Friday a large juvenile dance was given by Mrs Ramsay (Royal Terrace). This Friday another LARGE JUVENILE DANCE was given by Mies Sinclair (Linwood). About 150 were present, and dancing was kept up until a very late hour. Among the guests were several grown-up people, who helped greatly to add
to the amusement of the little ones. Mrs Sinclair wore a dainty yellow floral silk blouse. black velvet skirt; Miss A. Sinclair, white crepon; Miss May Sinclair, white nun s veiling, bright red silk sleeves and sash; Miss Mac Lean. cream crepon with white satin bows ; Miss L. Wil ford (Wellington), pale pink silk ; Miss Holmes, white nun's veiling: Miss Farquhar, white gown of Empire silk; Miss R. Farquhar, white silk; Miss M. Moodie. white silk trimmed with red and pink roses; Misses M. and A. Shand, pale pink nun's veiling frocks; Miss Morris, pink silk ; Mies Denniston, white silk; Miss Hart, pale blue silk ; Miss Hislop (Wellington), black velvet trimmed with white chiffon; Misses Salmon.
