WELLINGTON.
Dear Bee, December 3a There is generally some good concert to describe here. 1 hope you are not weary of them. MR ARTHUR SALVINIS SECOND CONCERT proved universally a great success, but there was not nearly as good an audience as its merits demanded. The affair took place m Thomas' Hall, which is excellent for sound. Mr Salvini fairly surpassed the most sanguine expectations. He has quite recovered from his attack of influenza, and was in capital voice throughout. Everyone was delighted, and he was encored for everything, many standing up the more to show their pleasure. There was a very enthusiastic and appreciative audience. His finest soM? was ‘Sound the Alarm’ (Handeh. which was a great triumph. He also sang ‘ There is a Flower that Bloometh.' ‘ Let me like a Soldier Fall.' ‘Twenty Years Ago a duet by Mr Salvini and Mr John Prouse. ‘The Moon Has Raised Her i-amp Above,’ was splendidly sung. Mr Prou>e also sang ‘ Flight of Ages * and ‘Star of Bethlehem.’ both magnificently sung. Mr MeDuft Boyd gave two lovely violin s*»los. Miss Trehair-Osborne sang even better than usual. Her best ifm was ‘Vi Ravisso,' and Mrs Perrin sang beautifully ‘Sing. Sweet Bird.' and Best of All.* Miss Jessie Wi son. who has attracted some attention in musical circles lately, sang very sweetly, giving • Douglas Gordon * and ‘ The Dance. A quartette. ’ Buona Notte,* was splendidly rendered by Mrs Perrin. Miss Trehair-O>borne. and Messrs Prouse and Salvini. Mr John Maginnity played all the accompaniments. This was altogether one of the best concerts we have enjoyed for a long time. Mr. Mrs. and Miss George and Captain Cameron all leave for England early in Mr Arnold Izard leaves for England by the next direct boat to pursue his studies.
