Dear Bee, April 30. A very large and fashionable audience it wts that foregathered on the Hawke’s Bay Club’s ground, bidden to the open-air concert by the mysterious musicians. Amongst those present were a number of country people. SOME DRESSES. I noticed Mrs Ormond in a black gown and cape, black bonnet trimmed with gold. With her were the Misses Grace (Wellington) and Spencer. Miss Grace looked very stylish in a pretty brown gown, brown straw hat with cock’s feathers ; Sliss Spencer wore a fawn gown, black jacket, white sailor hat; Mrs Jardine, pretty light fawn gown, stylish hat ; Mrs Fat McLean, very elegant costume, sweet hat ; Mrs Fraser, black gown, handsome black mantle, black bonnet ; Mrs J. N. Williams looked exceedingly well in a very handsome black gown with long train, mantle, and exquisite bonnet composed of pale pink roses ; Miss Williams looked very charming in a pretty light grey gown, Tudor cloak to match, exceedingly pretty grey hat with feathers ; Mrs Fitzroy (Hastings), handsome black brocaded gown, seal jacket, stylish black hat with ruchings of white tulle standing up on the crown, which had a pretty soft effect ; Mrs Balfour looked very pretty in a stylish navy serge, handsome jacket, exquisite little bonnet with yellow flowers ; with her was Mrs Vickerman (Hastings), who looked so nice in a fashionable tweed tailor-made gown, very becoming stylish black hat trimmed with black velvet and yellow birds ; Mrs Gore looked well in a pretty black gown trimmed with black astrachan, and scarlet waist-coat, small black hat with scarlet birds ; Mrs B iker wore a pretty grey gown, handsome Tudor cloak, stylish bonnet with rose-coloured wing ; Mrs Hamlin, tweed gown, pretty grey Tudor cloak, very pretty little bonnet with yellow flowers ; Miss Hamlin looked very handsome in a pale grey gown, very stylish seal jacket, most becoming grey felt hat with birds. I was glad to see Mrs Lawrence once more amongst us. She met with an accident some time back and has not been out lately. She wore a very handsome black costume, large brown fur cape, black and gold bonnet : Miss Niederhauser looked very handsome in prune, bonnet to match ; Miss Iris Fulton, pale green gown, black jacket, black hat ; Mrs Kettle, navy figured gown, large black hat with feathers; Mrs Logan looked so well in a tweed gown, grey Tudor cloak, very pretty hat with pink roses ; Miss Taylor, brown costume, pretty hat; Mrs Charles Ellison, prune velvet gown, black bonnet. MORE DRESSES. Miss Ditchings looked ever so nice in a handsome fawn gown, long black boa, very stylish black hat with feathers ; Miss Hilda Hitchings, stylish fawn and red gown, red plush bonnet; Miss I'na Hitchings, stylish black costume (most becoming) ; Miss Milly Rhodes looked nice in a grey checked tweed gown, sealette jacket, pretty sailor hat trimmed high at the side with white silk bows ; Miss Locke, tweed gown, grey Tudor cloak, sailor hat trimmed with brown ; Mrs Tuke, black costume, black and gold bonnet ; Miss Tuke, grey gown with pale pink waistcoat, large grey hat. Mrs Lowry was in from the country with her daughters. Mrs Lowry wore black ; the Misses Lowry, fawn gowns, bonnets to match ; Mrs John Moore (Pohui) looked very handsome in fawn gown, very pretty bonnet; Mrs Hill, grey gown, small bonnet ; Mrs A. Carlyon, fawn gown, black boa, small bonnet ; Mrs Wenley, fawn gown, black jacket, stylish hat with red wing; Mrs Nelson Pierce looked nice in fawn costume, black boa, stylish hat; Mrs Kennedy, black costume, black and gold bonnet; her young daughter wore a fawn frock, dark red jacket, large cream hat. I think I have mentioned most of those who weie there, but must be pardoned if I have left any out, as I was so taken up listening to the music. The members of the Club were most attentive to their visitors. During the afternoon a shower of rain came on, which obliged everyone to adjourn to the large billiard-room. It was most delightful in there as the afternoon was rather raw, and it was slightly chilly outside. Amongst THE GENTLEMEN PRESENT I noticed Messrs E. H Williams, Logan, P. S. McLean, Luke, Kettle, Faulkner, Fraser. Crawford, Jardine, Gore, C. D. Kennedy, J. Studholme, Pierce, Lawrence, Fitzroy, and a whole host more. Gladys.
