BEAUTIFUL LINGERIE

It is a significant fact that coloured lingerie is once more returning to fashion. Even, the new silk and woven Milanese wear is now to be bought in delicate shades of peach colour, apricot. pale pink, and mauves, rather than the ordinary cream and white variety. Coloured cambric and crepe de chine underwear is, in its latest guise, to be found trimmed with white or coloured net, rather than the beautiful lace insertions that we used a year or so ago. Knickers are now trimmed with net, while tops of chemises, camisoles and nightdresses alike all show wide bands of net, hand-embroidered with the owner's monogram, cypher or crest, rather than lace tops, Ribbon straps are note supplanted by net, and these look far daintier under the transparent bodices of to-day. From a big lingerie house, Paris, come whole trousseau outfits made of the new peach colour trashing net, adorned with trimmings of hand-made roses of the same fabric; while another novelty from the same source are sets of chemises, knickers and nightdresses made of the fines! crepe georgette, trimmed with hems and yokes of open lattice work carried out in the same line fabric.

White fur is most charming as a trimming on cap and jacket for winter wear. A particularly delightful combination is pale powder blue, white fur and . touches of rose and- gold —■ only a mere suggestion of the last tiro, particularly the rose. Our sketch on the left was carried out

in blue washing satin, which is really serviceable, as it possesses quite an amount of warmth, as well as laundering qualities. Another quaint idea is the soft chiffon and lace corded cap, tied under the chin. A straight piece of material was used to make this, and the ties are of silk net. Pleating*

(iii ii crepe de chine nightie are more sensible in practice than they appear in, theory; they could he a different colour than the garment itself. Trousseau lingerie should be made in sets, and a charming idea is. to make an envelope sachet of the same material to enclose each set.
