IN WOOL AND SILK FOR COOL DAYS

STYLES FOR SMALL FOLKS

For those intermediate days betzvixt summer and autumn materials a little more chill-resist-ing than cotton need to be used. Fuji, Shantung, Vyclla and Kremlin are all light in -weight, and yet zvarm, and all arc -well knozvn for their laundering qualities. Our top right hand sketch is of Kremlin, and for little four-year-old you -will need 1 hyds. of single -width. The frock is cut in the Raglan principle, and allozvancc made for gathering a little round the neck, -which is set into a ■ narrozv band on the straight of the material. There is no opening in this neck. Silk lacings at the sides give an unusual touch in turquoise blue, and tiny cross-stitch flowers trim the neck and slccz’cs. To make knickers to match you -will need 4 yd. more material, and the tiny knee bands arc also embroidered to match.

In the lozver right hand corner is a frock of blue Fuji— cut Magyar style, and joined to a full skirtand darned in cherry silk to form a block pattern. he belt is of black patent leather, and you will need 2yds. to make a frock measuring 27in. from neck to hem. A dancing little maid -wears most happily, in our top left hand corner, a frock of cream Fuji, -with knickers to match. Tzvo yards -will cut this little outfit of 18in. length, and -with the exception of the front opening, like a shepherd’s smock, it is cut like its companion in the opposite corner. Touches of Bulgarian embroidery (or cross-stitch zvill do) in red, blue and green arc uplifting to feminine spirits and tzvo dancing red balls add to the festive touch. Early autumn breezes cannot disturb the little person in her snug-fitting hat of Shantung, to match her frock. Shantung is double width, so an ISin. frock or even a 20in. can be cut the zvrong -way of the material, -with the fold across the shoulder, and lyd. -will cut the frock and hat. The last roses of summer arc scattered over zvith the aid of old rose and dull green silks, and the -whole is bound and buttoned in pale green Jap. silk. The hat zvill require interlining to make it firm, and is lined zvith pale green. One could not help but be happy in a nezv frock of fine pink Vyclla, tucked finely in short tucks into a little round banded neck and cosily fitting to the -wrists. Wedge-wood blue -with touches of black is used for the zigzag embroidery, and the t-wo colours are tzvisted -with cream to form a tie at the neck. Sleeve and side arc cut Magyar in one piece, mid a zvide slightly-flared panel added at back and front, and you -will need 21 yds to make the frock and knickers for a 20in. neck to hem measurement. A charming little afternoon garment accompanies Miss Pink Vyclla, and is of blue Fuji — Raglan cut and fitted into a narrozv round yoke

(the yoke is nit double). Tiny cuffs and collar of cream crepe de chine are buttonholed in old rose, and to complete the effect she wears a wreath of roses round her yoke, and a pale green tie the colour of the rose leaves to tie the collars. The knickers are banded with cream, and also embroidered with rose. To make this set 20in. in length you -will need yds. also, and a scrap of cream crepe de chine for the collars and cuffs. The Fashions Editress -will always be glad to assist you in any -way as to the cutting, making or trimming of these little garments.
