Frances Keith-Payne Memorial Medal
The opportunity was taken on Hospital Day, at Wellington Hospital, to present the Frances Keith-Payne medal to the nurse who had been chosen for this honour.
The medal was presented for the Erst time. Our readers will remember that the old Wellington nurses subscribed for this memorial to their late Matron, and that they also erected tablets to her memory m the Hospital corridor and m the Church.
The medal was to be gained by a Wellington Hospital nurse who, passing her State examination with credit, was also m other ways a credit to the profession.
Miss Mina Kerr, who passed first for the Dominion last year, was the one chosen for this occasion, and the choice of the Committee was endorsed by. her fellow-nurses. Miss Cookson, the Matron, m congratulating her, said that by her influence she helped to maintain the highest ideals of the nursing profession.
Miss Kerr is now taking the PostGraduate Course, having been selected by the Wellington Hospital.
The medal is to be presented twice yearly after the State examination, provided only that there is a candidate who can fulfil the conditions imposed.
