U reiver a National Park: Considerable discussion took place about the Urewera National Park, with particular reference to milling likely to take place on private property within the boundaries of the park and the possible effect such milling might have in increasing the dangerous flood hazard in the Bay of Plenty. A decision was made to request the Minister to expedite the setting up of a board to control the park, and a committee was appointed to deal with the other matters causing concern. Noxious Animals: After consideration of new evidence on the subject, the Council resolved to again express its approval of the policy of extermination of noxious animals in our forests, and in doing so to request the Department to maintain unceasing vigilance that native birds do not suffer from any of the means used in carrying out the policy.
