Inquiry-': is made 'for the 1 whereabouts - if alive, or particulars of- death, if otherwise, - of Ihomas George Dawes Bennitt, who arrived in .Lyttelton m one of Shaw, Savill, and Co ’s & oTT Bi T"? agand who was Gt d - of from the Lyell diggings, Buller
River, in October, 1872. - He was for some' time engaged sheep driving, and also in getting wild cattle out of the bush at Cannibal Gorge, about 30 miles from the Buller,. with a party of ,Scotchmen, six-in- number altogether. In 1869 his. letters' .were .addressed to Maxwell’s Cosmopolitan Hotel, Greymouth, and ,he appeared to have been on terms of.intimacy with an old Mr. Waite and his wife. Information to be sent to the Commissioner of Police,. Christchurch.
