Stolen, from Springs’ Hotel, Southbridge, between 12.30 a.m. and 7a.m.on the 2ndinst., £l ' 4s. ,6d., consisting of ' half-a-sovereign, two two-shilling pieces, two five-shilling pieces, and' sixpence in silver; also, a silver, huming lever watch, No. 12967, maker Coates and Co., Christchurch, and a silver opened-faced verge watch, double case, No. 90128, maker’s name unknown. Stolen, from the person of Thomas Helms, of Prebbleton, between 8 and 11 p.m. on the 3rd inst-., a green morocco leather pocketbook, clasp broken, secured with elastic band, containing three £1 notes, banks and numbers unknown, some silver, amount not known, a letter addressed to Mr. Thomas Helmes, Post Office, Prebbleton. Cl Stolen, between 7 am. 30th and 7 a.m. 31st January, 1875, from the dwelling of Josiah Watson, Racecourse, two £5 notes, bank and numbers unknown, and £9 10s. in gold and silver. Watson is a drunken dissolute man, and has been in the habit of taking all sorts of characters to his house.

Stolen, from Christchurch railway station, between 7 p.m. 30th and 8 am. 31st January last, a mat of sugar, 45lbs. weight, the property of Mr. Abrahams, Burnham. Not identifiable.

Stolen, from the tent of William Henderson, at Leeston, between the 4th and 6th instant, the sum of £9, consisting of one £5 note, and four £L notes, banks and numbers unknown. One of the single notes identifiable through 'some writing on the back, of which no description can be given. A lad named Joseph Kerr, about 12 years of age, about 4ft. 1 or 2in., generally dressed in tweed suit, who resides with his father in the neighbourhood, is suspected.

All identifiable except two of the notes George Morris Titmus, see Police Gazette ,y 22, ' 1874, page 160, discharged prisoners, and three other men,' one of whom is described - as about sft. Sin., sandy beard, and wearing a white straw hat, going south via Ashburton, are-suspected.
