Stolen, from the dwelling of G-eorge Brough, French Farm Bay, Akaroa, between 10 p.m. Sunday, the 16th, and 5 p.m. Saturday, the 22nd August, 1874, a gentleman’s Colonial gold ring, flat on top, has been broken and roughly mended, shows file marks on the inside; value £2. Identifiable. Frederick Cooper, English, 28 years, sft. 6in., dark complexion, reddish cheeks, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, chin shaved, dark eyes, slender build, generally wears an Inverness cape, is suspected. He is identical with the Frederick Cooper referred to in Otago Police Gazette , 31st March, 1874, page 17, and requires Police surveillance, as he is suspected of several petty thefts, and the property described in the Otago Police Gazette might be found in his possession. He passed through Little River on the 27th August, en route for Christchurch, riding an old brown horse.

Stolen, from the person of Charles Hawker, while asleep in the skittle-alley of the Albion Hotel, Lyttelton, between 10 am. and 4 p m. on the 29th August, 1874, a lady’s gold Geneva watch, open-faced, gold dial, steel hands, number or maker’s name unknown ; and a long gold chain, small links, broken in the middle ; value £B. Identifiable.

Stolen, at Templeton, during the night of the 28th August, 1874, two wheels and a coulter of a Hornsby plough, the property of William Jarvis; coulter identifiable. Ilaman Smart, 41 years, sft. 7in., stout build, fair hair, whiskers, and moustache, dressed in a light blouse, cord trousers, and billycock hat, still iu Templeton, is suspected.

Stolen, between 5 p.m. 25th and 9 am. 28th August, 1874. from the yard of Mr. R. Maples, Armagh Street west, about eleven dozen of wine and beer bottles. Not identifiable. John Jebson, 25 years, sft sin., stout build, fair hair, dressed in an old tweed suit ; and Brammv, 26 years, sft. 7in., stout build, dark complexion, dressed in black coat and trousers, are suspected; still in Christchurch.

Stolen, from the person of William balloon, about 8.30 p.m. on the 3Lst August, 1874, a brown leather pocket-book, containing six £1 notes, bank or numbers unknown, each with Falloon’s name upon it. Identifiable. Lee Wade, 48 years, sft. Sin., stout build, fresh complexion, pockpitted, a groom, dressed in light tweed suit and light "Yankee hat, still in Christchurch, is suspected. Tins is considered a doubtful case.

Stolen, from the shop of Mr. James Payne, bootmaker, Whately Road, at 4.45 p.m. on Vol. XII., No. 18.

Stolen, between the hours of 9 and -A p.m on the sth September, 1874, from of Mr. Charles Trounce, Manchester Street, Christchurch, an old verge watch, number unknown, a gold key, a gold seal with bloodstone, a Bannockburn paget coat, a pair ot light-tweed trousers .and vest, nearly new, a pair of bedford cord trousers, a doublebreasted tweed vest, a pair of tweed trousers, two flannel under-shirts, three Crimean shirts, and three planes. All identifiable The planes have since been found planted in a paddock near Mr. Trounce’s house.

Stolen, from the dwelling of Mr. Thomas Poole, Colombo Street, Christchurch, between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. on the 6th September, 1874, about £3O in notes, gold, and silver ; an open-faced silver Geneva watch, with black letters on dial, and chased on the back ; a lady’s gold-plated brooch, a silver link. The watch, brooch, and silver link identifiable. William, alias Harry, 20 years, sft., dark complexion, rather stout build, dark hair, whiskers just sprouting, dressed in light-tweed coat, black trousers and vest, cheese-cutter cap, is suspected. He was in Poole’s employ as baker, and absconded on the day of the robbery. He came out as assistant baker per ship Hereford, about six weeks ago.

Stolen, from the dwelling of Harry Dickison, near Timaru, about 11.30 p.m. on the 3rd September, 1874, two boxes, 6in. x 4in., containing one £5 note, ten £1 notes, and some silver. The boxes and three sixpences identifiable. William Drummond, a Scotchman, 20 years, sft. 6in , medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, small fair whiskers, no beard or moustache, dark tweed suit, black billycock hat, is suspected. The boxes have since been found in an adjoining garden broken open. ' p

Stolen, from the Immigration Barracks, Addington, between 10 a.m. 3rd and 7 a.m 4th September, 1874, a black silk velvet jacket, round like a cape, with a little trimming round the neck and sleeves : also, a mauve leather purse, containing 2s. in silvertoe property of Mary Olas, an immigrant.

William Walton, English, 44 years, sft. 4m., stout budd, fresh complexion, straight brown hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache blue eyes, anchor tattooed on right arm’ burnt scars on left, dressed in tweed trou-

sers, black coat, and Scotch cap, swag in a ban-,’watertight boots, a bricklayer’s labourer, is charged on warrant filed in Commissioner’ with deserting his children at Christchurch, on the 19th August, 1874.

Bobeet Ceoziee, Irish, about 35 years, sft. 7in., slender build, dark complexion, black hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache, a labourer, is charged on warrant filed in the Commissioner’s office, with neglecting to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, of which Jane Park is the mother. Offendtr is said to have left for Ireland via Melbourne, some time ago.

Beveeting to Police Gazette , No. 8, 1874, page 54, offender Patrick O’Loughan therein described, has been arrested bv MountedConstable Loose, Ashburton Police.

Beveeting to Police Gazette, No. 16, 1874, page 117, > ffender Edward Ford therein described, has been arrested by inspector Barsham, Kaiapoi District.

Beveeting to Criminal Offence, dated Lyttelton, 3rd inst., the charge against the seamen of the barque Cyrene has been withdrawn by Captain Wood.

Beveeting to Police Gazette, No. 11, 1874, page 79, offender Bichard Bowe therein described, was employed at the works, Waitaki Bridge, for about three months previous to the 21st August, 1874, on which day he left them and crossed over to the Canterbury side, hearing that the Oamaru Police were on his track. He was known as Bichard Dods, at the Waitaki, but his letters from Castlemaine, Victoria, wer addressed to him at the Oamaru Postoffice as “ William Jones.” The warrant for this offender’s arrest and the depositions are in the hands of the Commissioner of Police, Dunedin.

Beveeting to Police Gazette, No. 12, 1874, page 84, John William Bottomore, is wanted to serve a summons upon him for neglecting to obey an order of the Besident Magistrate s Court, Christchurch. He may be accompanied by a female, 19 years of age, small, pale, and thin, light complexion, and hair not abundant hanging down upon her neck, no chignon, wore a red or scarlet s art and blue shawl, was known in Auckland by the name of “ Muslin ” Her parents reside there.

He was drinking at the Warwick Hotel in June last, and reported the loss of a pocketbook containing cheques, &c. ; such pocketbook and cheques are now believed to be found, and Williams is wanted to identify them. Information to be sent to the Commissioner of Police, Christchui’ch.

The office ■ f Mr. Joseph B. Sheath was broken into between 5 p.m. Ist and 8 a.m. 2nd inst., but nothing was stolen —a screwdriver, piece of candle, and box of matches, were left behind by the thief.

Captain Alderton, of the barque Auriga, offers £2 for the arrest of Edward Stone, a Creole, sft. 6in., 26 years, thin build, thin half caste face, black goatee, no whiskers or moustache, usually dressed in a long rough dark blue coat and cheese-cutter cap.
