Stolen, from a meat safe on the premises of Mr. Henry Allchin, Christchurch, on the Bth August, 1874, two fowls, and seven-and-a-half pounds of steak ; also, a wooden washtub. John Jebson, English, sft. 4or sin., stout build, fair complexion, sandy hair, small sandy moustache and goatee ; dressed in Scotch cap, blue monkey jacket, moleskin trousers, a shoeblack, still in Christchurch, is suspected.

Stolen, from the dwelling of Ananias Knud - sen, Heathcote Yalley, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p in., on the 13th August, 1874, a pair of light watertight boots, nearly new, a pair of side-spring boots a little worn on outside, a pair of light tweed trousers, a blue cloth ribbed coat, a tweed shirt, a small toothcomb, with a few teeth broken out at the end on one side, and a pair of braces, old and brown from wear. Identifiable. Henry Larsen, a Dutchman, 20 years, sft. 4 or sin., downcast look, sallow complexion, prominent nose, dark blue or grey eyes, brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, a supposed runaway sailor from ship Wellington, dressed in short pea jacket, dirty moleskin trousers, and dark blue Scotch cap, is suspected.

Stolen, from the till of the G-olden Age Hotel, Christchurch, between the hours of 6 and 7 p.m., on the 17th August, three or four single notes, bank or numbers unknown. Not identifiable.

Stolen, from the shop of Edward George, High Street, Christchurch, about 5.30 p.m , on the 18th instant, a pair of No. 6 size, sewn watertight shooting boots, not nailed. Identifiable.

Stolen, from C. T Kingsworth, at the Halkett Hotel, Courtenay, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., on the 24th August, 1874, two one-pound notes, and a cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch, for £2 25., cinque torn in two, name or number unknown. Not identifiable. Robert Morrison, Scotch, 45 years, sft. 8 or 9in., dressed in tweed suit, stout build, a barman; and Thomas Taylor, native of Australia, about 25 years of age, sft. 7 or Bin., dark complexion, little whiskers, dressed in moleskin trousers, Crimean shirt, and wideawake hat, a groom, still at Courtenay, are suspected.

Henry Hebden, English, 24 years, sft. sin., thin build, dark complexion, dark eyes, black straight hair, whiskers, and moustache, about 9st. weight, a blacksmith, is charged on warrant filed in Commissioner’s office, with neglecting to provide for the maintenance of his two illegitimate children, of whom Alice Hankins is the mother. YVas last heard of m Dunedin.

Captain Bley, ship Stonehouse, offers £1 each for the arrest of the undermentioned deserters frum his ship: —August Biger, sft. Bin., fair complexhm, fair hair, whiskers, and moustache, dressed in Sunday clothes ; and John Mulloy, sft. 3in , dark hair and whiskers, pock-marked. Deserted 24th August, 1874

Reverting to Police Gazelle, No. 16, 1874, page 116, the pocket-book therein described belonging to William Brodie, was found in Kilmore Street the same day by Mr. Allard, and has been restored to the owner —nut stolen.

Reverting to Police Gazette , No. 15, 1874, page 107, missing friend Alick Blaney, therein describe!, has been found drowned in a waterhole at Ashburton.

Revrting to Police Gazette , No. 15, 1874, page 107, missing friend Christian Jensen Osterild. therein referred to, has been found at Moorhouse’s station, Upper Rangitata.

Criminal (Defences, dated Geraldine, 18th August, 1874, is cancelled, as it has been ascertained that the loss of the pocket-book and its contents reported by Daniel McNamara was a fiction.

Reverting to Police Gazette , No. 16, 1874, page 117, offender Charles E. Windsor, is believed to be making for Auckland, from whence he will try to get home per ship Countess of Kintore. There is a second charge of forgery against this offender.

Reverting to Police Gazette , No. 9, 1873, page 40, offender Harry Brian Thompson, therein mentioned, is said to be with his father in Auckland.
