An Inquest was held at the Christchurch Hospital, on the 9th ult., before J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body of William Day, a farmer, aged 38 years, who died suddenly, on the Bth ult., from congestion of the brain. Verdict —Accidental causes.

An Inquest was held at Christchurch, on the 3rd ult., before J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Eliza Brown, a school girl, aged 11 years, who died, on the 3rd ult., from a fracture of the skull, caused by a kick from a horse tethered in the school ground. Verdict—Accidental death. The jury added a rider, that they were of opinion “ that it was unwise to tether the horse in the children’s playground, and that they hoped the practice would be discontinued.”
